After transforming a neglected building on 418 State Street, Redbud Brewing launched to an enthusiastic response, selling 1,000 pints in its first week They're eagerly awaiting the installation of their own brewing system to offer 14 taps featuring local and regional brews. With plans to engage the community through unique events and benefit from new state legislation, Redbud Brewing is set to become a staple of Augusta's social scene.
Maverik, a popular Utah-based gas station chain, is set to open its first location in Park City, Kansas, at the northwest corner of 77th Street and I135. Known for its "BonFire food" like burritos and sandwiches, Maverik has secured the property and plans to start construction soon. Sweet Illusion Bridal & Tux, a fixture in Wichita's Douglas Design District since 2019, has decided to stay put for now despite earlier plans to relocate downtown. Owner Patty Haas cited unforeseen circumstances in securing a new location as the reason for the change. The building they had hoped to move into was sold to another buyer, prompting them to extend their lease on a month-tomonth basis. Haas remains committed to expanding within downtown Wichita and is actively searching for a new property with the help of a local real estate agent. Despite the uncertainty surrounding their current building, Sweet Illusion continues to focus on providing excellent service to their clientele.
Paul Kelsey, through Kick "N" Development Corp., has secured Wichita City Council approval for his expansive Yellowstone Addition project. Situated at Pawnee and 119th Street, this 161-acre development will feature 240 singlefamily homes, 85 duplexes, and 176,500 square feet of commercial space. Construction is slated to begin within 10 months, complementing Kelsey's ongoing expansion of the Prairie Creek project in Andover These developments underscore Kelsey's commitment to enhancing community living in southwest Wichita.
Plans are progressing for a major mixed-use development in northeast Wichita led by Mike Ricklefs, founder of King of Freight. Located on 20 acres at 29th Street and Greenwich Road, the project includes offices for King of Freight, outdoor entertainment, a hotel, and dining. Approved by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission as "Kings Coast Addition," construction begins in January, focusing first on offices with completion expected by late 2025 The development aims to enhance local amenities and aligns with area growth initiatives, potentially involving a $100 million investment.
