In 2023, Sedgwick County saw a drop in land sales volume to 91 deals, down from 121 the previous year. However, total sales value increased to $71.6 million, a $9 million rise from 2022 Land prices have soared, with premium acres now reaching $29,000, the highest in recent history.

NAI Martens’ Tom Johnson noted strong demand for well-located land, particularly in Wichita's northeast, northwest, and southwest areas Nationally, land sales rose by 1 2%, and land value jumped from $17.2 trillion to $18.6 trillion. Despite a slowdown in investment deals due to high interest rates, there’s optimism for future market activity

The former Opti-Life Health and Wellness Center at 9758 E. 21st St., northeast Wichita, is becoming Healical, a modern medical and office facility led by Pat Do of Mid-America Orthopedics. Healical will host Metabolic Life Clinic, which specializes in metabolic diseases, and Integrative Center for Therapy, offering unique physical therapy services.

Renovations include balcony enhancements and new signage. Do is also considering adding advanced imaging technologies. The space is expected to be fully leased by the end of the year. The investment is in the multi-million dollar range.

Dollar Tree is expanding in Wichita with a new store at 13801 W. Maple Street, on the southwest corner of 135th Street West and Maple Street. The project, which has an $800,000 permit issued to SBA Construction Co., will be the 18th Dollar Tree in the city. This area has seen recent growth, including the launch of Porchlight at Auburn Hills and new businesses like Ziggy's Pizza However, while Dollar Tree is expanding, its Family Dollar brand is contracting. The company plans to close nearly 1,000 Family Dollar locations nationwide. In Wichita, Family Dollar stores have decreased from 15 to 9 over the past two years.

International is bringing a new Everhome Suites to northeast Wichita, set to open in November 2025. The four-story hotel at 8133 E. Thorn Drive will feature 123 rooms, business and mercantile spaces on the ground level, and an amenity building. Valued at over $10.2 million, the project is being developed by Highside Development with Prosser Wilbert Construction as the general contractor. This will be Everhome Suites' first location in Kansas. The hotel will offer fully-equipped kitchens, spa-style bathrooms, and modern workspaces, along with a 24/7 fitness center and other amenities. The location was chosen for its proximity to key local sectors and Wichita State University.

ICTeeth, a local pediatric dental practice, will open a new location at 13610 W Maple St in November This 10,000 square-foot facility, previously Ascension Medical Group’s site, will be ICTeeth’s largest office. The expansion comes in response to high demand and patient requests for services in west Wichita. The new space will feature a vibrant design with nine closed examination rooms, six open-bay areas, and advanced dental equipment. Wichita Oral Surgery will also lease 2,500 square feet of the building. Renovations are underway, and ICTeeth is hiring 10 to 12 new staff members to support the expanded operations

Culver’s has officially opened its first Wichita restaurant at 3210 N. Maize Road as of July 8, 2024 This new location introduces the city to Culver’s signature ButterBurgers and fresh frozen custard, known for their quality and flavor The restaurant features seating for about 120, including a small patio with four tables, and a drive-through to accommodate busy diners. Franchisee Nick Campe, who previously managed the Topeka Culver’s, is enthusiastic about bringing the brand to Wichita Campe plans to expand further in the area, with additional locations in the works. The new Maize Road restaurant is part of a 9-acre development that also includes IHOP and Life.Church, contributing to the growing dining and community options in the region.

Wichita's downtown real estate market is heating up, driven by the $300-million Wichita Biomedical Campus. Ascension Via Christi has sold land at 800-900 St Francis Avenue to local developers, including Philip Bundy, who transferred it to Equisset LLC. Equisset plans to contribute to the biomedical corridor with new projects, though specifics are undisclosed. Kevin Strecker from Ascension hinted at upcoming construction near St. Francis in the next 90 days. This activity adds to recent downtown revitalization efforts by Schellenberg Development Co. and Crain Development.

Blooming Horizons is set to open a new facility at 2400 S. Greenwich Road in August, following the success of their initial Wichita location. The 11,000 square-foot center, situated on five acres, will offer themed playrooms, therapy spaces, and areas for collaboration among professionals. With a capacity for 200 children, the new site aims to address high demand and eliminate waitlists. This expansion supports Blooming Horizons’ mission to provide comprehensive autism services. The organization, which also operates in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, runs a nonprofit arm that assists families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds
