Proposed Weekly Market at Vajreshwari My First project, a Weekly market at Vajreshwari, a village near Mumbai. I was required to provide for an arrangement to set up shops on the day of the market. In India, weekly markets generally also involve religious ceremonies and create a gathering of all nearby villages, hence I provided for a Temple with an office and underground storage room attached. The covers for the temporary shops are made of reed mats which fit into the underground room when not in use and create a leeward funnel while in use so they allow for escape of hot air, the market is also paved with used firebricks for longevity and considerable saving of cost.

Proposed Neighbourhood Park, Pune.

My Final Landscape design proposal for third year, was situated in a building complex, my solution was the use of sewage water treatment to provide fertilizer and water for the garden, Solar panels for lighting, an ayurvedic garden with high-yield medicinal plants for sale and public areas, the garden provided for reuse of all human waste from the vicinity, lowering the load on public landfills and providing a source of income for the community.

Tourism is travel for recreational or leisure purposes. The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people who "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited". It's the world's favourite leisure activity, It's where the world yearns to spend the money it's earned. There are various kinds of travellers, leisure, business, adventure, curious, illegal, and those who go just to tell their neighbours about their journeys, and the

for the design dissertation, Culminating five years of travails. It had to be a subject close to my heart, and it had to let me go far enough into the realms of the unknown. Another self-restraint was giving something to my City of Birth, solving at least one problem related to pollution. That's where I started looking for the various modes of travel from the city, and the lacunae in modes. Despite being an Island city and having such a rich heritage of shipping, trade and Architecture, Mumbai lacks a Cruise terminal befitting the aspirations of both, the cruise vessels as well as the travellers.

Site Location > Greater Mumbai > Sewree-Mazgaon reclamation > Darukhana Site Selection The site selected for International cruise terminal is the old piers of Lakri bandar, Coal bandar and Tank Bandar at Darukhana, this site is especially suited to a new Cruise terminal because: 1. Close Proximity to Mumbai port. 2. Reserved for water transport facilities. 3. No port based activities on site currently.

4. Good Channel depth and clear access to craft of all sizes. 5. Within City limits. 6. Close proximity to the Historical city center and other tourist destinations in Mumbai. 7. Well connected to North and South Mumbai by Rail, Road and BEST Bus service. 8. Is riddled with slums and illegal activities, removal of which will lead the way to the renewal of the area as an important trade and transport zone.

Hurdles There are Several problems at the site. 1. A large Population of migrant and unskilled workers living in slums . 2. Illegal as well as legitimate gowdowns , bringing down the overall efficiency of a port. 3. The building of a cruise terminal at this site will lead to the clearing of a berth and other facilities within the Indira docks.

The Form of both the Cruise Terminal as well as the Museum, stems from Nautical forms, The terminal aspiring to push boats off into the vast Ocean, the Museum bringing boats back from the Ocean, both are ate the two ends of the Nautical journey we have embarked upon. Fishing boats have been Designed over the last thousands of years to withstand the constant forces of the sea, they are the pioneers of shipping all over the world, Fishermen keep their boats upturned but ready to go at any moment, in that state they cannot be dragged into the sea by small waves nor do they get damaged, hence the roofs have the form of upturned boats, they are bound together by the strongest known ocean phenomenon, whirlpools, signifying the risks taken by adventurers and sailors while going out to sea. These boats are Whirlpools supported by columns in the form of reeds, holding them all in place.

A Maritime museum is also proposed on the site at Lakri Bandar, as large ships can only enter on the northern side, leaving the south free for cruise tenders and public spaces, There is a severe lack of understanding of the sea and hence no love for the ocean from which Bombay rose, The Maritime Museum tries to bridge this gap and hence aspires to become a cultural hub for maritime Mumbai. The Beacon at the cruise terminal will not only be a guiding light for vessels in the port, but also a navigation landmark there is a Lighthouse museum, on the upper decks explaining the workings of lighthouses and a Fresnel lens museum, making use of the numerous Fresnel lenses lying in lighthouses across the country.
