KOHIMA, SEP 15 (NPN): A week after ABI Neiphretuo Metsie-o of 5th NAP ‘C’ Coy Pfutsero, went missing since September 7, his dead body was found in a decomposed state at a place between Lasumi and Zapami village under Zuketsa circle, Pfutsero sub-division on Saturday. According to initial reports, the victim was reportedly hit with a blunt object. Post Mortem was conducted Saturday and reports were expected in a day or two. The body was later taken to late Neiphretuo’s native village Chiechama. Police sources have names of suspects who were identified as- Yuireingam Shimray son of Starson Shimray of Kharasom village and the co-accused as Miss. Ringthingchon of Lunghar village, Ukhrul district, Manipur. Police said that the female suspect was arrested and kept under the custody of Ukhrul women police station while the main suspect was still absconding. Raj Bhavan to observe Gandhi’s 150th birth anniv DIMAPUR SEP 15 (NPN): Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya on Saturday informed that the Raj Bhavan will be celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary by organizing a seminar on “thoughts and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi” with eminent resource persons on October 2, 2018. This was stated during a meeting with Higher Education officials, Nagaland College Principals Association members and Nagaland University representatives chaired by PB Acharay, PRO Raj Bhavan stated in a press statement. He also informed that Raj Bhavans across the country will be organising similar programmes to mark the occasion. Acharya has also instructed Higher Education department to conduct quiz competitions related to Mahatma Gandhi in all the Districts of Nagaland. The winners of the competition will be felicitated on October 2 at Raj Bhavan, he added. Around 250 college students from Kohima and Dimapur are expected to take part in the programme, PRO said.

Neiphretuo continued the journey with the two hitch hikers. After sometime there was no contact with Neiphretuo as the last contact was shown at mobile tower at Viswema. When Neiphretuo
did not contact his family, his wife filed a missing report on September 11. Police along with Nerhema villagers and Zuketsa, Pfutsero and neighbouring villages then launched a search operation. The decomposed body was found inside a jungle after a week and the vehicle remains untraced along with the main suspect. When contacted, DGP Nagaland, TJ Longkumer informed Nagaland Post that two special investigation team (SITs) have been formed to identify and arrest the culprits from Manipur. The two suspects went to Manipur with the stolen vehicle and halted at a village. The female accomplice was then nabbed and in custody of Women Police in Ukhrul but the main suspect remain untraced with the stolen vehicle. Nagaland DGP Longkumer contacted Manipur DGP, LM Khaute to seek help in arresting the suspects. With identities of suspects established, DGP hoped the duo would be arrested soon. The DGP also expressed deep grief at the brutal murder and vowed that no effort would be spared to bring the guilty to book.

D imapur , S ep 1 5 (IANS): Former Governor of Odisha and former Nagaland chief minister, Dr. S.C. Jamir on Saturday asked the Modi-led government to make public the full contents of the Framework Agreement signed with the NSCN (I-M) of August 3, 2015. “It is expected that whatever agreement is drawn up would be in the best interest of the Nagas,” Jamir, a Naga political stalwart, said. Exhorting the central government to hammer out an honourable solution to the Naga insurgency problem without any further delay, the former Odhisa governor appealed to various Naga ethnic tribes to unite and recognise the “contemporary political reality”. Jamir called for an end to what he called “political polemics”. However, he said: “Let the final political settlement be made first.” Jamir said the pace of development in Nagaland should have picked up after the agreement of ceasefire was signed between the government of India and various Naga armed groups. “Sadly, that has not happened due to political instability, rank misgovernance and rampant corruption indulged in by those in power,” he stated.

KOHIMA, SEP 15 (NPN): BJP national general secretary in-charge of North East and J&K Ram Madhav who arrived Kohima Saturday described Naga political issue as “very complicated” and that negotiations were at an advanced stage, but may take time if a permanent solution was to be achieved. Madhav said this during a brief interaction with media at the helipad at Lerie Kohima on arrival from Imphal. Madhav was responding to queries whether BJP would again use the slogan “Election for Solution” for the 2019 parliamentary election, which he had declared on January 22 during the state general election campaign. “We want a permanent solution and we are not doing it with any election in mind,” he said adding that the 2019 Lok Sabha election was still eight months away and sooner or later, solution will have to arrive. Madhav pointed out that he was not involved in the negotiation and so cannot give any deadline for solution. He however said there was a sincere effort for a permanent solution “as early as possible”.

He mentioned that solution will be welcomed by all stakeholders, which also involves the states of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. On the issue of extension of Article 371 (A) to Manipur, Madhav said each of the state leaders has their demands and for which the Government of India would look into them while pursuing settlement. He said an acceptable solution for all won’t be difficult in the region since the BJP was in power in Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched “Swachhata Hi Seva” (cleanliness is service) movement by interacting with common people and personalities from diverse fields through video conferencing at 17 locations and said the country has achieved more in sanitation coverage in the last four
years than that in the last 60-65 years. Modi also performed “shramdaan” (manual labour) at Babasaheb Ambedkar Higher Secondar y School in Delhi after his video interaction. According to PMO, Modi Minister drove to the school and back in normal traffic without customary protocol and no special traffic arrangements
were made for his visit. The movement aims at boosting public participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and is being organised in the run-up to the fourth anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2 next month, which will also mark the commencement of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi. In his remarks, Modi said cleanliness coverage was 40 per cent in 2014 and it now has grown to over 90 per cent on account of people’s efforts. “ W h o c o u l d h ave thought that we will progress so much in cleanliness coverage in the last four years that could not be achieved in the last 60-65 years. Could anybody have thought that nine crore toilets will be built in the country in four years? Had anybody imagined that about 4.5 lakh villages, over 450 districts and 20 states

Whether it is village, city, street or a corner, no part of the country is untouched by the campaign,” he added. DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): NNPGs Working Committee (WC) has expressed dismay over the recurrence in kidnapping, abduction and confinement of Naga national workers. NNPGs WC in a press note said it was “very unfortunate to learn that in recent times there has been a recurrence in kidnapping, abduction and confinement of Naga national workers by NSCN (I-M) at Hebron camp.” WC said that though no fatality had been perpetrated this time, the ghost of 1988 and aftermath should not be revived in Nagaland as “abducting national workers at this juncture was too reckless”. Organizations condemn murder of police inspector DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): Several organizations including elected representatives have condemned the cold blooded murder of a police inspector (5th NAP ABI), Neiphretuo Metseio of Chiechama village. CPO: Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has vehemently condemned the barbaric murder of Neiphretuo Metseio of Chiechama village. In a press note, CPO president, Kekhwengulo Lea and general secretary Mutsivoyi Kotso said late Nephretuo was a very sincere officer posted as Inspector of 5th NAP (SN) at Pfutsero. CPO asserted that the Chakhesang community will not tolerate such act of barbarism committed in Chakhesang jurisdiction in broad day light. CPO also stated that the deceased was not way laid as presumed by some,
but was murdered in cold blood by the occupants in his car for reason best known to the perpetrators. Further, CPO urged the state investigating agencies and the administration to expedite the investigation and leave no stone unturned to bring the culprits to book at the earliest and deliver justice without delay. Minister, Y Patton has expressed anguish on learning about the tragic dead of Niephretou Metsie-o, ABI of 5th NAP Bn, whose dead body was recovered on September 15 2018, under Phek district. Patton has asked the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly probe into the nature of the death and to book the culprits at the earliest so as to award befitting punishment to the perpetrators as per the law of the land. Meanwhile, Patton also conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved families and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace. Petrol and diesel prices hiked again
DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (IANS/NPN): Fuel prices in the country hit a new benchmark on Saturday with the price of petrol in Mumbai touching Rs 89 per litre, for the first time ever and in Delhi it was Rs. 81,63 Diesel prices, on the other hand, registered a similar surge in both the metropolitan cities. It was retailing at Rs 73.54 per litre (increased by Rs 0.24 per litre) in the national capital and at Rs 78.07 per litre (increased by Rs 0.25 per litre) in the financial capital. Meanwhile, in Dimapur petrol price as on Saturday cost to Rs. 79.34 per litre and in Kohima it crossed the Rs. 80 mark costing Rs. 80.10 per litre. Aadhaar mandatory to avail central scholarships: NBSE DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): As directed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has informed all heads Hr. Sec. Schools and colleges registered under NBSE, that Aadhaar number will be mandatory for any student who wishes to avail scholarship under the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship. Therefore, all heads of the institutions have been asked to inform the students who were yet to enroll for Aadhaar, to do so at the earliest. No one will be eligible to avail the scholarship without Aadhaar, it added.
ANCSU reminds govt. of deadline DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has reminded the state government that the six-week time sought by the state government for Kohima Science College land encroachment issue will end on September 27, 2018. In this regard, ANCSU has appealed to the state government to deliver justice to the college students without further delay. During the 2nd presidential meeting held on September 15, attended by its affiliated units, the house also re-affirmed to not accept payment of scholarship on instalment basis, a press note by ANCSU general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso stated.
