It therefore, urged upon the joint director to consider its representation to consider setting up of a branch office of CBI at Dimapur to act as deterrent so that public fund is not mis-utilized at will and take prompt action against the corrupt. The memorandum gave a brief history of Nagaland’s creation as a state on December 1, 1963 and the constitutional guarantee under Article 371 A of the constitution in respect of religious and social practices, Naga customary law and practises, administration of civil and criminal justice involving decisions according to Naga customary law and ownership and transfer of land and its resources. NPRAF said except making hue and cry through media, people are helpless when various scams were highlighted in the media in departments like law & justice, roads & bridges, irrigation & flood control, health, industries, food & civil supplies, NSMDC, rural development, education, police, finance, etc, involving several thousand crore of rupees. NPRAAF pointed out that even Enforcement Directorate had recovered huge cash from the residence of former Addl SP MKR Pillai in Kerala in connection with swindling of police modernization fund. It said that though the news was flashed across national media, nothing really happened as politicians and officials were hand in glove with the accused, it alleged.

He also rubbished the NPF talk of BJP being a religion-centric party saying, “...nobody can take away your religion from you”. He appealed to the voters to vote for PDA’s consensus candidate Tokheho Yepthomi. On TR Zeliang’s statement that “PDA days are numbered”, Yepthomi, in his speech, referred to the instability of the previous government and stated that when Zeliang was the chief minister, MLAs were even made to sleep on the floor of chief minister’s house, “which is uncommon and unethical”. On his candidature for the upcoming by-election, Yepthomi assured the gathering that, if elected, he will
do his best and whatever is necessary in the interest of Nagas and in line with NDPP’s policies and directives, particularly with regard to the Naga political issue. This was stated in a press release issued by media & communication committee of NDPP. In his campaign in 8 western Angami A/C, held at Angami Public Organization (APO) hall Kohima. advisor for rural development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, said Nagas should not miss the opportunity to elect PDA consensus and ruling government candidate at this crucial point to work for the Naga political issue. Yitachu asked to clarify
DIMAPUR, MAY 22 (NPN): Former MLA, Chupfuo Kense has refuted the allegation made by his own party colleague, Yitachu that Neiphiu Rio had allegedly bought the 11-Northern AngamiII A/C seat from him and another intending candidate. It may be recalled that Chupfuo, who was the 2018 NPF nominee of 11-Northern Angami-II A/C had clarified that he withdrew his nomination due to health reasons and not for personal gain as alleged. He therefore demanded “clarification/apology” from NPF MLA and spokesperson, Yitachu, failing which, Chupfuo said he will be compelled to seek legal recourse. Asserting that he was not a purchasable commodity, Chupfuo reminded that after starting his political career with UDF since1976, he had never sought ministerial berth or anything to do with his personal benefit, but stood tall and firm for the party so that other MLAs could be accommodated and the party could (Cont’d on p-7) be stable.
Reacting to opposition’s allegation on alliance with BJP, Dr. Kire justified that there was no complaint or problem when NPF had alliance with BJP from 2003 to 2013. Appealing to the electorate to vote for PDA candidate, he asked the voters whether they would stay with ruling government and work for development or with opposition party. Also speaking at the c a m p a i g n , N D P P ex candidate from 8 western Angami, Er. Kevisekho Kruse said he has been working with Tokheho for many years and found him capable.
