DIMAPUR, MAR 8 (NPN): Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has called for creating special category Inner Line Permit (ILP) for “business visitors and shoppers” in order to do away with certain bottlenecks. Extending its support to ILP implementation in Dimapur, the confederation however urged the State government to make necessary arrangements to ease the process of issuing ILP for this category of visitors with a maximum validity of one to two days. And to ease the process for issuing ILP for this category, CNCCI president Dr Khekugha Tuccu and general secretary Dr Seyeville Mor suggested that the government should set up ILP counters at all inter-State check gates, train and bus stations and airport and minimise documentation process to just one photo ID card approved by the government with a nominal fee. The confederation urged the government to take its suggestion on priority basis and urgency for smooth functioning of the State’s economy.

NEW DELHI, MAR 8 (AGENCIES): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday gave his social media handles to seven “women achievers”, following up on a statement he had made on Monday. “Greetings on International Women’s Day! We salute the spirit and accomplishments of our Nari Shakti. As I’d said a few days ago, I’m signing off. Through the day, seven women achievers will share their life journeys and perhaps interact with you through my social media accounts,” Modi tweeted. “These women have done great work in a wide range of sectors. Their struggles and aspirations motivate millions,” he said. The first to tweet from the PM’s Twitter handle was Sneha Mohandoss, founder of Food Bank India, and she
was followed by Dr. Malvika Iyer, a disability rights activist who lost her arms in a bomb blast. Modi, with roughly 50 million followers on Twitter; 44 million ‘likes’ on Facebook and 35 million followers on Instagram, uses social media to speak about his government’s policies or appealing for peace. Last week, he surprised his followers when he was announced that he was “thinking” of giving up his social media accounts. Thousands of people appealed him to stay but the Congress party accused of him encouraging online trolls. Sitaram Yechury, a leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), described the government’s campaigns on Women’s Day as “tokenism and gimmickry”.
“ Wo m e n’s D ay i s not just about one day. Its revolutionary origins for equal wages and rights are a powerful and important reinforcer of those who hold up half the sky,” said Yechury on Twitter, saying the government was sitting on a Bill that proposes to amend the Constitution of India to reserve 33 per cent of all seats in the Lok Sabha and in all state legislative assemblies for women. The prime minister has accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. The prime minister is one of the most-followed world leaders on social media with 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 44 million on Facebook and 35.2 million on Instagram. The Twitter handle of Prime Minister’s Office has 32 million followers.
2008 based on 2001 Census had excluded the four North-eastern States – Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland – because of various reasons, including the prevailing situation then. It said Nagaland was excluded because of the political talks on the Naga issue and tribal hohos and various civil society organisations having raised objections to the procedure of delimitation, which eventually led to filing of various litigations in Supreme Court on the issue. The State’s population census of 2001 was also questioned by various quarters as in many areas population explosion was as high as 300% over the 1991 census. Basing on these facts and evidences submitted, GoI had then decided to suspend all delimitation-related exercises in Nagaland till further notice. Thus Nagaland was excluded because of these reasons and not because of insurgency or law and order-related issue as had been notified in the Gazette of India, dated 28th February 2020, NDPP clarified.
DIMAPUR, MAR 8 (NPN): Ahead of the proposed March 9 state-wide peace rally under the aegis of Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF), volunteers put up posters across the city on Sunday. Some of the posters read “GoI partner us or we will find one”, “GoI delay signing agreement at your own peril”, “GoI how long? How long? do not test our patience”, “Mr interlocutor all said and done, it is time to walk the talk”, “23 years of talks, Nagas need answers”, “History said Nagas can be most loyal friends or peerless tormentors”, etc and were seen across Dimapur district. settlement. Also, with the likelihood of an increase in the number of seats in Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha in the eventuality of a final settlement, this would definitely be in conflict with any delimitation exercise taken up at this juncture, it added. Pointing out that tribal equity and dynamics of district representations were also crucial factors involved, NDPP said before said any process that could affect these dynamics was undertaken, it was imperative to first hold widespread consultations with all tribal bodies, political parties, mass-based organisations, NGOs and all other stakeholders along with their views and opinions. Further, with notification for 2021 Census having already been issued and due procedures being put in place, the party reasoned that it would be futile to carry out delimitation exercise based on previous censuses when a new census would be carried out in the coming months and year. The party recalled that the delimitation exercise of
