Provide necessary medical supplies: NPF NPCC questions state govt’s strategy
DIMAPUR, MAR 26 (NPN): Asserting that “no soldier can face war without weapons and ammunitions, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has urged the state government to make available all the necessary equipments in all the district headquarters and sub-divisions so none of the citizens including doctors and nurses were affected due to lack of all medical supplies and equipment. NPF through its press bureau that the party concerned with the virus undertook an extensive survey in all the districts so that the state was not lagging behind any other states to handle the situation. NPF said it noted with all seriousness the reply given by the chief secretary that state government was prepared for any eventuality. However, the party said it was not convinced as his reply on many of the questions raised by the NPF remained unanswered. To substantiate further, the party said it had entrusted all its divisional presidents to find out the details of preparedness in each district headquarters and sub-divisional (Cont’d on p-7) headquarters. (Cont’d on p-8)
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie wondered whether the State government was sincerely preparing to fight COVID-19 pandemic as it had not announced any financial package so far as merely issuing orders and lathi charges were not enough. In a release, Therie pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced Rs 15,000-crore package to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, while Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced Rs 20,000-crore revival package, out of which Rs 500 crore would be provided to the State’s health department to fight back the pandemic. He said no such similar measures had been announced by Nagaland and reminded it that salaries of NHM doctors of the past four months were still pending. There said he was not aware of the status of safety and protective equipment for doctors and healthcare workers, security forces, and personnel of other essential services. However, he expressed happiness that the state government was providing free testing, treatment, quarantine and other medical services pertaining to COVID-19. (Cont’d on p-8) K Y M C
