Naga areas.” It opined that if the Prime Minister wished, would be a matter of brief discourse to streamline and finalize every resolved matter to conclude the agreement. “We trust that there will be no new subjects or reversals on any matter already negotiated and agreed upon,” said NGBF and urged upon the
prime minister to announce whatever was in record as on October 31, 2019 to the Naga people and the world. “An early signing of Indo-Naga political agreement will most certainly enhance your reputation as the undisputed leader of the world’s largest democracy,” NGBF stated. With accept-
able and honorable political solution in the offing, NGBF said Nagas were prepared to begin an enduring peaceful co-existence after seven decades of conflict. The federation urged Modi to accord utmost priority to its petition and also inform the Naga public about the date of signing
the “Indo-Naga peace agreement”. NGBF said the decision to submit this petition was decided during the general meeting held on March 4, 2020 in Dimapur. DIMAPUR: The rally was held at DC court junction in collaboration with the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and attended by
various civil society organizations and students. Many held banner and placards some of which read: “Announce honourable and acceptable Indo-Naga political solution”; “What has been agreed upon, bring it home, what remains pursue through democratic political process”; “GoI partner us or we will find one”; “GoI how long? How long? Do not test our patience” and “The world is watching and waiting let’s begin enduring peaceful co-existence” etc. while some also shouted out slogans like “Nagas need solution”. Addressing the rally, former NLA speaker Z. Lohe stated that peace itself was just a word in Nagaland and that, there was no peace in reality. He maintained that if peace actually existed, no one would have to check or demand taxes from someone’s industry at gunpoint. He further said “Nagaland for Christ” slogan has now become just a motto and people were not actually living up to it. On Pan Naga Hoho (PNH), Lohe was sceptical that such body was only a
ruse to control Nagaland and reduce the indigenous people of Nagaland to second class citizens. “This is why there should be solution without PAN Naga Hoho” and that Article 371 (A) will also become more insignificant under PNH scheme Western Sumi Hoho president Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi expressed dismay that despite negotiations being held for the past 22 years, there were more faction rather than solution. “We hear that the talk is going in the right direction but we have no idea what they’ve been negotiating for the Nagas”, he said. “If you (GoI) do not give us what you promised when we are ready to accept it then we are sorry because this country will lose Nagaland,” Zhimomi added. He also held that “Nagaland has not only become a land of taxes but a land of organisations” and that everyone has become leaders and that was why the Naga public were also confused. Naga Women Hoho Dimapur president, Sungsabeni Jamio in her speech said that Nagas have “lost
many souls” and that, mothers do not need bloodshed anymore but “want peace and solution”. While, Naga council Dimapur (NCD) president T. Bangerloba said that the ultimate goal of Nagas should be solution and no more of “lingering”, he also called for unity for early solution. NGBF president Shalem Konyak lamented that due to disunity amongst Nagas, the Centre had been taking its time to solve the Naga issue. He urged the Centre to deliver what have been promised to the Nagas. Later, remark of the rally was made by former president NCD president Savi Liegise, who also chaired the programme. KOHIMA: Along with other districts, the rally in Kohima was held at the premises of the state badminton stadium here Monday. At the rally, general secretary NGBF Shikuto Zalipu read out the representation addressed to the PM which was later submitted through the Governor at Raj Bhavan. (Cont’d on p-7)
COVID-19: As panic grips, shops face Amid crisis in MP Congress govt, 20 ministers resign shortage of hand sanitizers, face masks Correspondent/Staff Reporter
KOHIMA/DIMAPUR, MAR 9 (NPN): Amid coronavirus scare, the demand for surgical and N95 masks including hand sanitizers increased manifold in the state with some people claiming they were being sold at rates much higher than the actual cost. In the state capital (Kohima) and the commercial hub (Dimapur) face mask and hand sanitizers have run out of stock with most dealers. As this Correspondent visited the market area at Kohima town Monday, it was found that face masks were in high demand including hand sanitizers. Prices of these items in the market shot up by almost 50% from the main source due to shortage and high demand, a shopkeeper said. Earlier, these items were slow moving, but the

coronavirus scare has made people stock up by buying in bulk, another shopkeeper said after he sold the last 100 pieces mask to a customer. In Dimapur as well, a wholesale dealer told Nagaland Post that there has been a sudden surge in demand for face masks and hand sanitizers. “Due to shortage of supply from the main dealers, we are unable to meet the market demand,” he added.
He also informed that some government agency had bought huge number of surgical masks. He also said that there was huge demand from outside the state as well. Meanwhile, as the scarcity of face masks has become a global issue, interestingly a student from Dimapur was compelled to courier face masks to his friend who was studying abroad. It may be pointed out that Union Health minister Harsh Vardhan sought strict action against those charging inflated prices for face masks. His comments come in the wake of shortage of masks and sanitizers in the market and chemists charging higher than the normal price as the coronavirus scare rises. “Strict action should be taken against those black marketing the masks,” he tweeted in Hindi.
BHOPAL, MAR 9 (PTI/ AGENCIES): In a late night development, Congress government in Madhya Pradesh plunged into a political crisis on Monday after a sulking Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with at least 17 MLAs, virtually raised a banner of revolt prompting chief minister Kamal Nath to call a late-night cabinet meeting where around 20 ministers present resigned reposing their faith in his leadership. Nath alleged that the BJP was adopting immoral ways to “destabilise my government” and vowed not to let it happen. After the dramatic developments, Forest Minister Umang Singhar told PTI, “We have resigned. Now it is up to the chief minister to take a call.” The minister said they have requested the chief minister to reconstitute the cabinet. Nath had cut short his Delhi visit and rushed to

Bhopal where he had called the urgent cabinet meeting at around 10 p.m. after a faction led by senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia who, along with at least 17 legislators left for Bengaluru and went incommunicado. Earlier in the day, a section of Congress leaders, mostly of Kamal Nath camp, demanded that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra be nominated from the state for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls, seen by many as an attempt to thwart Scindia’s chance to reach
the Upper House. “All issues were discussed with the Congress president and everything will be resolved unanimously,” he told reporters. Nath, however, skirted the issue of whether Scindia can be nominated for the Rajya Sabha seat from the state. Meanwhile, according to sources, Nath demanded resignations from all 17 MLAs who went ‘untraceable’. As per reports, BJP was planning to take ad-
vantage of this rift in the Congress state leadership and bring a no-confidence motion against Kamal Nath’s government. Sources have claimed that Scindia, who has had a turbulent relationship with chief minister Kamal Nath and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, was reportedly in touch with top BJP leaders. Scindia and Nath have fallen out over the post of the state Congress president, which is currently held by the chief minister. The political situation in Madhya Pradesh hangs in balance as Congress with 114 seats has a slender majority in the house. BJP with its 107 MLAs would hope that with the changed political numbers game in the state would give the saffron party a chance to jump to power. Assembly session in Madhya Pradesh begins on March 16.
