DNSU clarifies on June 5 bandh DIMAPUR, JUN 7 (NPN): Dimapur Naga Student’s Union (DNSU) has issued a rejoinder to what was described as “misinformation” regarding the union’s stand vis-à-vis June 5 Dimapur bandh called by 19 Dimapur based college students unions. DNSU president Sedevilie Angami and general secretary B.Mhonjan Tsopoe pointed out that on June 4, DNSU was approached by ANCSU speaker, asst. general secretary and assembly secretary at DNSU office for their support. They told ANCSU representatives that though DNSU supported the five-point charter of demands by ANCSU, yet DNSU was against the “sudden calling of the indefinite bandh in Dimapur”. DNSU leaders reportedly told ANCSU that since Dimapur is a district having mixed community and also since June 5 was World Environment Day as well as Eid, it was suggested to postpone the bandh and plan accordingly so as to not create inconvenience to public but to focus towards the goal with support from all sections of society. DNSU said it suggested to not impose bandh only in Dimapur but also in other districts, since Dimapur was being turned into a “sacrificial ground”.

ment Bill (CAB), had some impact on the recently concluded election but there was a need for legislators to read the content in the CAB. Rio said the final recommendation of CAB showed that it affected only 31,330 people who were victims of religious atrocity in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Out of which, 25,447 were Hindus, 5807 Sikhs, 55 Christians, two Buddhists and Parsis each. He maintained that CAB cannot affect villages since Nagaland is protected under Article 371 (A) and that even if it was enacted, the registration will have to come through the village or colony or ward for a person to prove he or she was a genuine Indian citizen. He said the truth must be made
