DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), while appreciating the state government for approving the ILP committee report in February this year, has questioned the government for the delay in implementing the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the entire state till date. Since the committee on Inner Line Permit had already submitted its report to the state government on February 15 and the same approved, NSF president Ninoto Awomi and general secretary Liremo R. Kikon, in a representation to the chief minister, demanded immediate implementation of ILP in the entire state without any further delay. Asser ting that the implementation of ILP to the entire state and Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act 1873
has been a long pending demand of the NSF, the federation cautioned that the federation would no more be able to withstand the delaying tactics, which the enemies of Nagas’ are taking advantage of. While lauding the government for assuring the people to deliver its commitment, NSF said the PIL filed by one outsider Ashwani Kumar Upadhyay in the Supreme Court was disturbing as it was solely intended to stall the implementation of ILP in the entire state and projecting the Nagas people in bad light to the outside world. “To safeguard the Naga ethnicity as an entity of the land, the coverage of the ILP area to the entire state is of paramount importance, thus, the reassurance from the state government is much appreciated,” the federation stated.

Organizations demand quality roads
CVC asks govt to repair, construct roads Tuli bodies demand good roads
DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN): Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) has expressed dismay over the dismal condition of roads under Chümoukedima jurisdiction, left neglected by the PWD department. Despite Chümoukedima town being recognized as one of the fastest growing township in India with an exploding population, CVC chairman Razouvotuo Chatsu wondered as to why the town continues to have the most neglected roads. Chatsu said not a single road within Chümoukedima is pliable, as no repair works or road construction had been taken up for the past 20 years. This has made the public undergo untold hardships even to commute for basic amenities and the worst affected are the school children and ailing patients, in need of medical attention, who has to suffer through the trench-like potholes and natural reservoirs of rainwater on the main roads, he added. He pointed out that the major
lifeline road-- 7th mile-Shokhuvi road connecting Peren district, 2nd Gate to Chümoukedima village which also connects the first and only NIT of the state besides the colony and ward approach roads are in pathetic, deplorable condition, unfit even for commuters on foot. With the arrival of the monsoon season, Chatsu said the conditions of the roads are expected to worsen and dilemma of the public will only follow suit. While assuring fullest cooperation to the government for any developmental works, CVC appealed to the government, particularly PWD minister and PWD (R&B) and Ghaspani-I MLA to take cognizance of the untold hardships of the people. The council also urged the government to include repair works/ road constructions in the work programme on priority list of road construction projects to be undertaken for the current year 2019.

Expressing delight at the proposed road construction from Nagaland gate (Watiyongpang) to Arm post (Tsusangra) that was set to begin soon, the Tuli Town Ward Union (TTWU) and Tzudikong Adhoc Town Council (TATC) have demanded that road must be constructed as per the technical specification laid down by the Centre. In a press note, TTWU chairman Temsuinba and TATC chairman O Benjung cautioned that failure to carry out the road construction as per the work order, the two bodies would take necessary action against the contractors. They said that Amguri-Mokokchung road (NH-61) via Tuli was one of the important roads in Nagaland, the lifeline of not only Mokokchung district, but also connects Tuensang, Zunheboto and Wokha districts. However, the unions said that due to poor condition of Mokokchung-Mariani road via Changki village, the AmguriMokokchung road had to bear heavy burden for smooth transportation. Since last three years, they said the highway has gone from bad to worse, adding that the vehicles especially small cars find it difficult to ply the road.

OSAKA, JUN 29 (AGENCIES): Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused on terror, healthcare and disaster infrastructure during the G20 Summit, and sideline trilateral and bilateral meets. “India played a proactive, positive, forward-looking role. PM raised many issues of global concerns”, Suresh Prabhu, India’s Sherpa at the meeting of the world’s top economies, said at a presser at the end of the G20 summit. During his intervention at G20 session on “Inequalities: Realising an Inclusive and Sustainable World”, PM highlighted “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” policy aimed at building an inclusive society. G20 puts tech giants on notice over terror: The world’s leaders have pushed social media giants to root
out terrorism and violent extremist content to protect everyone using the internet. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison earned a significant victory at the G20 summit by convincing all leaders of the world’s major economies to agree to take action, inspired by the live-streamed Christchurch massacre. “We urge online platforms to step up the ambition and pace of their efforts to prevent terrorist and VECT (violent extremism conducive to terrorism) content from being streamed, uploaded, or re-uploaded,” the statement released on Saturday said. “We issue this statement to raise the bar of expectation for online platforms to do their part.” Morrison said the consensus position from G20 leaders sent a clear message to technology companies.
