This meeting is being held at the residence of former deputy CM of the state Jagdish Shettar.

A letter has been written by the MLAs, which does not have any signature, although it clearly shows the rebellious attitude against Yeddyurappa. C o n g r e s s l e a d e r Brijesh Kalappa said that Yeddyurappa could never complete his term till date. This can happen in future also. The age of Yeddyurappa is also being discussed in the political corridors of BJP and Karnataka. It is said that a person can remain in the BJP for some 75 years. Yeddyurappa has attained the age of 77 years. JAMMU, FEB 18 (AGENCIES): Ten special townships and renovation and rebuilding of temples destroyed and desecrated by terrorists were among the promises made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits on Tuesday.

Amit said the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits was the utmost priority of the government and assured them phased resettlement amid adequate security in the Valley, from where they were forced to flee by Islamist terrorists in late 1989 and early 1990.

The delegation, which included prominent Kashmiri Pandits like Utpal Kaul, Col Taj Tikoo, Dr Surinder Kaul, Sanjay Ganjoo and Parekisht Kaul, met Amit Shah to express gratitude to the government for abrogating Article 370 and 35A.

During their meeting, the Kashmiri Pandits appealed to the Home Minister to address the issues of displaced Pandits on a priority basis.

The Pandits urged Amit Shah to take concrete steps for honourable and dignified return of the community to the Kashmir Valley.

Speaking to India Today TV, Utpal Kaul, who was part of the delegation, said that Amit Shah assured them that special townships will be created in all 10 districts of Kashmir Valley for the rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandits. Kaul added that Amit Shah assured them that all temples which have been desecrated and vandalised by the terrorists will be renovated again.

Amit Shah also assured the Kashmiri Pandits that the government will come up with special provisions so that the age limit for government jobs can be extended for the community. Kashmiri Pandits also presented copies of ‘Rajtarangini’ and ‘Neelmat Puran’ to Amit Shah. Delegation of Kashmiri Pandits call on Amit Shah Priyanka Gandhi Vadra NEW DELHI, FEB 18 (AGENCIES): Gandhi family loyalists in the Congress who have floated the idea of bringing Priyanka Gandhi Vadra into the Rajya Sabha say one of the “major advantages” of the move was that it would solve the problem of the AICC general secretary potentially losing government accommodation in the capital, ET has learnt.

ET had reported in November that the Centre, following the withdrawal of the SPG cover for the Gandhi family, may review the official accommodation given to Vadra at a Lodhi Estate bungalow since 1997. While those with Z plus security (which the Gandhis now have) too were earlier entitled to government accommodation, the government in 2015 changed the rules to make only SPG protectees eligible for this.

Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul are entitled to government accommodation as members of Parliament. With Vadra’s official accommodation now hinges on government’s thinking, the Congress leadership is all the more keen that she too enter Parliament.

An AICC functionary said on condition of anonymity: “Well, the idea (over Vadra’s RS entry) has already been floated by projecting it as a ‘decisive move to galvanise the party’ but, as always, it is for Priyanka ji and the Gandhi family to take the final call on whether she should ‘give into the pressure and appeal from party leaders’ or ‘renounce’ it (the RS seat).”

The family loyalists have floated the idea at a time when the process has started for the AICC to finalise the party candidates for the upcoming RS elections. When reporters asked about the prospect of Vadra’s Rajya Sabha entry, AICC spokesperson Randeep Surjewala chose not to dismiss it, and merely Leaders campaign for Priyanka Gandhi’s Rajya Sabha entry

said: “We don’t comment on speculation”. Resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits utmost priority: HM Karnataka: 15-20 MLA unhappy with CM NEW DELHI, FEB 18 (AGENCIES): After a British MP, critical of India’s move to withdraw Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, was denied entry into the country, government sources on Tuesday said that her visa was revoked as she was involved in “anti-India” activities.

Debbie Abrahams, who chairs a British parliamentary group on Kashmir, was denied entry into India upon her arrival at the New Delhi airport on Monday.

Saying that the grant or rejection of a visa is the sovereign right of any country, the sources added that Abrahams was issued an e-Business visa on October 7, 2019, which was valid till October 5, 2020 to attend business meetings. “Her visa was revoked on February 14, 2020, on account of her indulging in activities which went against India’s ‘national interest’.

The rejection of the e-Business visa was intimated to her on February 14,” sources added. ‘British MP visa revoked for ‘anti-India’ activities’

Spare graveyard land around Babri Masjid: Lawyer

AYO D H YA , F E B 1 8 (AGENCIES): A senior Supreme Court lawyer has written to the Ram temple trust on behalf of a group of Muslims in Ayodhya, asking that five acres of land around the demolished Babri Masjid where a graveyard is situated be spared for the sake of ‘sanatan dharma’.

The letter, written by advocate M R Shamshad, is addressed to all 10 trustees of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra.

Shamshad said according to Muslims, there is a graveyard known as ‘Ganj Shahidan’ around the demolished Babri Masjid where 75 Muslims who lost their lives in the 1885 riots in Ayodhya were buried.

“There is a mention of this in Faizabad Gazetteer also,” he said.

“The central government has not considered the issue not using the graveyard of Muslims for constructing the grand temple of Lord Ram. It has violated ‘dharma’,” the letter stated. “In view of religious scriptures of ‘sanatan dharma’, you need to consider whether the temple of Lord Ram can have foundation on the graves of Muslims? This is a decision that the management of the trust has to take,” it said.

“With all humility and respect to Lord Ram, I request you, not to use the land of about four to five acres in which the graves of Muslims are there around the demolished mosque,” the letter added.
