Pradesh chief minister, Kamal Nath rushed to Bhopal. “I am leaving for Bhopal. A meeting of MLAs will be held and you will get to know the decision after that,” Kamal Nath told reporters outside Gandhi’s residence. Jyotiraditya Scindia, who was the other contender said, “It is not a race, it is not about kursi. We are here to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh. I am leaving for Bhopal and you will get to know the decision today.” For Rajasthan, several media reports stated that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had picked Ashok Gehlot as the chief minister. However, an official announcement was still awaited as meetings and speculations stretched late
into the evening. Later, it was reported that Congress president Rahul Gandhi deferred the decisions on chief ministers of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh for Friday as he wanted to hold further discussions with party leaders, Congress sources said. Rajasthan party chief, Sachin Pilot supporters burnt tyres and blocked roads in Rajasthan on Thursday, demanding his appointment as the next chief minister. Gehlot and Pilot met Rahul Gandhi at his residence in Delhi where he was joined by his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Sources said the chief minister for Chhattisgarh would be decided after the
central observer for the state, Mallikarjun Kharge, briefs Gandhi on the basis of the view of the state’s party MLAs. Gandhi was also likely to meet the top contenders in Chhattisgarh-- state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel, CLP leader T S Singh Deo, OBC leader Tamradhwaj Sahu and party veteran Charan Das Mahant. DIMAPUR, DEC 13 (NPN): School Education adviser K Tokugha Sukhalu has remarked that Nagaland required fully-committed teachers who would teach students with dedication, and not just come to work simply for the sake of coming. He made this remark while inaugurating a newly-constructed additional school building at Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, here on Thursday. Pointing out the importance of community involvement in management of government schools in the State, Sukhalu said those schools that had active participation of communities were faring much better in terms of productivity and infrastructure. He mentioned that the State was facing the problem (Cont’d on p-7) of proxy teachers largely

due to the fact that communities in the vicinity of schools were not concerned about their functioning or development. Lauding Chümoukedima Village Council for taking interest and showing concern for the school, Sukhalu remarked that this had resulted in the proper construction of the new building by the contractors. He expressed regret
that although there were some schools celebrating 50 years of their establishment, yet, due to absence of community participation, these were in a dilapidated condition. Calling on teachers to be more efficient in the profession they had chosen, Sukhalu said, “You have chosen this job. No one has forced you to do it. Therefore, you have
to do your job properly and with sincerity. Let your students see you as a role model. Let them see hope in you.” He added that a teacher’s attitude, both in and out of the classroom, was more important than the lectures he or she gave. On the developmental front, Sukhalu said when the present government talked about change, it was not about change on the part of the government or party alone, but about change in attitude and mindset of all Nagas. He commented, “Change cannot happen overnight. It takes time, but we will get there ultimately and that was the vision we had in mind when we talked about change. Bear with us for a while and see for yourself the positive changes that the government is currently working on, especially in infrastructure and developmental areas.” (Cont’d on p-7)
Mass cleanliness How Assembly polls changed political landscape 100-rupee coin with Vajpayee’s drive in Dmu Dec 15 NEW DELHI, DEC 13 (AGENCIES): On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi crossed each other at the Parliament — their first face-to-face encounter after Congress’ sweeping victory in Assembly polls — without exchanging pleasantries. Quite visibly, the Congress victory in the Assembly elections has changed political equations on the ground and beyond. From what looked like a partial completion of BJPclaimed ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ just six months ago in May, the Congress victory in three states has made inroads not just into the Hindi heartland, but also in the perception about the forthcoming general elections next year. In May 2018, the BJP held 19 states in the country. Congress was reduced to just three states- Punjab,

The alliance with Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka, which helped continue the Congress-element in power was arguably the only face saver moment the party witnessed earlier this year. Six months down the lane, the situation is not quite as predicted. Contrary
to a ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ which, according to the BJP, should have resulted in a BJP win in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, it is the Congress which has emerged victorious. The post-December 11 political map has reduced BJP to 16 states. The Con-
