Prez addresses nation on eve of I-Day India will never lose capacity to listen to feeblest voice: President NEW DELHI, AUG 14 (AGENCIES): President Ram Nath Kovind said on Wednesday that India will never lose its capacity to listen to the feeblest voice; that it will never lose sight of its ancient ideals; that it will forget neither its sense of fairness nor its sense of adventure. In his address to the nation on the eve of 73rd Independence Day, the President said it is a characteristic of Indianness to empathize with nature and with all living beings. “We Indians are a people who dare to explore the moon and Mars. We are also a people who persevere to create a loving habitat for three of every four wild tigers on our planet, because it is characteristic of Indianness to empathise with nature and with all living beings,” he said. DC notifies on road safety rules

D I M A P U R , AU G 1 4 (NPN): In pursuance of the directive of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety and in the interest and public safety, DC & chairman, District Road Safety Committee, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol has directed strictly implementation of road safety rules. In a notification, DC informed that traffic violations/offences regarding helmets, seatbelt, mobile phones, dangerous driving etc will be strictly dealt with and directed the enforcing agencies to impound driving licences of violators and the same to be forwarded to the concern licencing authority for necessary action. Owners of school buses, school/own managed operated transport buses and three wheelers have been asked to follow the prescribed carrying capacity mentioned in the registration certificate and to prominently display the seating capacity, visible to all passengers. Appropriate action will be initiated against all defaulters, it added. School authorities have been asked to ensure that under-aged students are not allowed to drive to school. Appropriate action will be initiated as per law against owners who allow vehicles to be driven by under-aged students, DC stated.

President Police Medals for Gallantry (PPMG) has been awarded to three personnel, Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG) to 177 personnel, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) to 89 personnel and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) to 677 personnel. Among the majority of the 180 gallantry awards, 114 personnel are being awarded for their gallant action in J&K, 62 personnel for their gallant action in left-wing extremism affected areas and 4 personnel for their gallant action in the north-east region. From Nagaland, Deputy SP Dimapur, Atu Zumvu, CLI, PTS Nagaland Kevisebile Angami and Hekishe Sema, Inspector (GD), 111 Bn BSF, Satakha Nagaland have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

DIMAPUR, AUG 14 (NPN): Ngaland Governor R.N. Ravi in his maiden speech on the eve of Independence Day, stated that India has been relentlessly and unwaveringly pursuing the path of a secular and plural democracy during its 73 years of independence as the world’s largest democracy. He said the country has built strong foundations for establishing internationally credible institutions of law, justice and a robust free media including diversity of faith, language, culture and cuisine. Governor Ravi added that multiple faith and cultures thrived in this beautiful mosaic. Ravi also extolled the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under whom India was rising up to its long awaited destiny to become the world’s fifth largest economy and on way to become the fourth largest with aspirations of becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2025. riencing fast paced growth, Nagaland was lagging behind . He said there was differential growth and development between Nagaland and other advanced states in India. However he said that in the 55 years of statehood, Nagaland has undergone significant transformation for the good. Among these was the remarkable progress in the parameters of human resource development but there was vast unmet potential of the land and people. Other areas of concern, which the governor noted were connectivity infrastructure which was poor even by the stan-

dard in some north eastern states. He said the such slow pace of development was “stealing away the future of Nagaland.” He also stressed that it was essential for growth to provide equal partnership of mothers, sisters and daughters of Nagaland who remain disadvantaged in terms of health care, nutrition, education and employment opportunities. Ravi also pointed out the need to unleash the creative genius and entrepreneurial potential of youth, by creating “a congenial atmosphere, free from fear of gun and multiple taxation” and providing them with easy access to credit and technology. On the occasion, he asserted that Nagaland was at the point of its history with the dawn of peace and prosperity beaconing the state. Ravi therefore called upon the people of the state and all sections to commit to a pledge to build “Nagaland of our dreams” so as to be the envy of even the most advanced states in India.

NSF vice president, Dievi Yano who rushed to the spot with other members informed Nagaland Post that 20 injured students were rushed to Naga Hospital, Kohima and KOHIMAS. Among them, one was stated to be in serious condition, but out of danger, Yano said. Those with minor injuries were administered first aid and discharged. The cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained till the filing of this report. M e a n w h i l e, N S F expressed pain over the unfortunate incident and informed that the federation will bear all medical expenses of the injured. NSF further thanked the students for their sacrifice and wished them speedy recovery.

NEW DELHI, AUG 14 (AGENCIES): Most people in India feel that Narendra Modi is the best Prime Minister that the country has seen so far. His popularity surpasses that of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Jawaharlal Nehru. This was revealed in the Mood of the Nation Poll 2019 conducted by the India Today Group. In the survey, 37% polled Indians ranked Narendra Modi as the best Prime Minister. With just 14% polled Indians rooting for her, Indira Gandhi was ranked as the second best prime minister of India. Besides this, founder of BJP and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was ranked as the third best PM with 11% polled Indians ranking him as the best. In comparison to this, 9% polled Indians believed that India’s first prime minister, Nehru was the best PM that India has seen so far. Lal Bahadur Shastri and Rajiv Gandhi got 6% votes, while Manmohan Singh and Guljari Lal Nanda got 5 and 3% respectively. (Guljari Lal Nanda served as acting PM on two occasions.) The India Today Group-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll was conducted by Karvy Insights Limited. A total of 12,126 interviews were conducted (67 per cent rural and 33 per cent urban, and an almost equal number of women and men), spread across 97 parliamentary constituencies and 194 assembly constituencies in 19 states. These states are: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
