Greetings! As president of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), I am pleased to issue this Call to the Conference. Please join us on July 3-7, 2012 at the 51st Biennial NAD Conference at the Hyatt Regency Louisville and the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, KY! The theme of this year’s conference is “Nothing About Us, Without Us!”. This NAD Conference will be very different, with lots planned for you! We are partnering with the famed DeaFestival Kentucky - everyone will get to see deaf artists, poets, comedians, and more. This event will be a true feast for the eyes! In addition to the Kentucky DeaFestival being open to everyone without admission, the Exhibits at the NAD Conference are as well! The Conference workshops are also open without charge to everyone who is a NAD member! We have made sure the 2012 NAD Conference is affordable to everyone and are delighted to offer an Early Bird Combo I rate at the very low price of $135. We know that the youth of today are our leaders of tomorrow, and invite all youth to our Conference to contribute their skills and join in the fun. In partnership with Deaf Youth USA (DYUSA), we are offering discount rates to young people age 18-30. We urge young advocates to join us in Louisville and rock our world! Families are welcome to be part of our Conference as well as Kentucky DeaFestival! We are offering free admission to all events for children up to two years old. For children and teens between the ages of three and 17, we offer free admission to the workshops, College Bowl preliminaries and Finals, and Miss Deaf America preliminaries and Finals. In addition, children and teens of this age range can purchase discounted rates for the Opening Ceremonies, Buffet, Baseball Game and Fireworks on Tuesday evening and the NAD Benefit BBQ Dinner on Saturday evening. We hope you will bring your children. Start the Conference on July 3rd at the Opening Ceremony followed by a sumptuous buffet and then a thrilling game, all at the Louisville Bats baseball field. Fireworks will end the evening, and we get more fireworks the next evening as we celebrate America’s 236th birthday! Hurry and get tickets to be part of the Steamboat Belle experience on the Ohio River to truly celebrate the Fourth of July in style! Come watch college students vie against each other in the exciting College Bowl, which for the first time will expand to include other colleges and universities competing against the traditional teams from Gallaudet University, National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID/RIT), and California State University at Northridge (CSUN).

Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of our Miss Deaf America Pageant! Join us as we watch this last competition in its current format, and learn about the new program that will showcase young deaf and hard of hearing leaders of tomorrow. We are pleased to announce that the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) Board has agreed to host their Board meeting in Louisville, Kentucky just prior to the 2012 NAD Conference. The entire WFD Board will stay throughout the week to meet all of you! Help us welcome them to the United States and exchange ideas for a brighter future together. We invite national organizations of and for deaf and hard of hearing people to participate in the 2012 NAD Conference. We have a limited amount of space available for your organizations to host your meetings. Please contact us to reserve your space.
