Organisation of exposition

Water ways Politecnico di Milano, Zero waste studio

The main aim of the project was to analyze the site and propose a masterplan that will go in accordance with the natural specifics of territory. Main challenge was to design a system that will pre-

vent water accumulation and floods.

Then one building block was designed more detailed.

The project proposes to use

the water instead of

avoiding it through the system of natural cleaning. Accord-

ing to statitstics, sixty percent of water is used for agriculture that is a huge amount in the scale of city. A big water reservoirs were designed on the places of maximal risk of flood that will serve as a cleaning system.

Unit housing

The main way to decrease cost and raise efficiency is division. Nowadays, the term of ownership is introduced. As computers and mobile phones has become a simple feature of everyday life and no help is needed to use it, also the housing can become more simple and available to construct independently. The project proposes to lay only foundations on the site area and make the area cost equal to the car price as it cannot be used on the site. Than a citizen will choose his house typology and size and will be obligated to install thermo solar panels. Possible material for housing panels can be CLT (cross laminated timber).

0 % water cycle

Prevailing amount of water is used in agriculture and indoor and can be not potable. Most of the water used for household consumption is toilet flushing, bathing, washing machines and dish washers. The key solution can be division of water on the early stage that can allow more intelligent treatment. The key solution is to segregate

different wastewater flows and to treat them separately according to their characteristics.

The game of Matryoshka. EXPO 2020. Politecnico di Milano, Building Technology Studio

Transformation from ideological matryoshka's functional conception into the form creates the conception of the pavilion. Concentric

circles from the section of finished stage of matryoshka represents the main element of concept. Every dome has its own

rule to represent the specific region of Russia. All domes are connected with their spacial dispositions through geometrical relations of multiplying and ofsetting the main dome shape. As the future always lapse with relation to the past so domes rise from mathematical relation to the previous shape.

The game of the pavillion

Big Russian pavilion is divided to 9 smaller pavilions which represent every federative district. In order to provide function appropriate to the main sentence of Expo, these pavilions become a game. As the game says "Connecting minds, creating the future" this pavilion is try to overcome language and cultural barriers between different nations. On the panels will be represented main cultural characteristic and scientific research in every region and movie about the subject. One will be able to take the photo of most likely part in the pavilion leaded by emotions which movies and photos provide and it will be shown in his own language on the digital device borrowed at the entrance. At the end of journey through pavilion he will select the part he likes the most, and the presentation with the most likes in the day will be represented in the main pavilion in characteristic interactive method. This program will connect everyone into the contribution of creating the future regardless to the nationality, cultural and language barriers.

1.

The idea of the pavillion is the labirinth in which every space should be uncovered by the visitor. From outside the form is not visible and the only way to understand it is to enter.

2.

On the entrance the ipad is given to every visitor.

3.

The electronic device would allow to discover in deep the most interesting topics in any language, save, share with friends and to vote for the most interesting themes.

4.

Another function of pad will be to help with orientation with regions.

5.

In the end visitors arrive in the most spacious zone where the most popular topics will be presented.

truss structures

Construction consists of a steel skeleton on which aluminum tray net is attached. Walls` finishing is made in concrete panels inside and perforated aluminum from outside with LED panels behind it to achieve interesting visual effect.

Transparent choice Moscow architectural Institute Architectural Design Studio

Entertainment centre is a type of building typical for the Soviet Union architecture. The purpose was to create e recreational space for people and arrange it for various clubs of interests.

transparent central zone with the staircase to let all the studios visible from it, to erase borders and let visitors choose what to The core idea was to make a

Social snake Moscow architectural Institute Architectural Design Studio

Social housing is something that is very common in Russia, especially from 1990s. It should be cheap,

fast to build

and use minimum of space. That is mass architecture with not so much attention to visual qualities. Usually typical

blocks are designed and put one after another as snake. That allegory was the starting point of project.

VeloCity Project for Schindler competition.

Why almost all mega cities are facing transport problems? Due to disproportional growth of city body comparing to transport system. If we cannot stop growth, maybe it can be planned according to the future growth? Project proposes a complicated

urban structure as a process of growth.

Tasselation

Two maps were chosen as driving forces of site: water flow map and water accumulation. A regular grid was put on site and deformed according to exclusion pointes obtained by previous two maps. A voronoi pattern was created from deformed grid. Then this two patterns were summed and the final one was obtained.

Biomimetic approach.

Mold inspiration. It was already proven by various experiments that Physarum polycephalum mold can create an intelligent route in a search of food. So, putting a "food" in an attractor points and "emitters" on the existing roads ends, simulation was held (using PHYSAREALM plugin). Then from this mold net shortest paths were chosen. Eucalyptus inspiration. Euclyptus is an example of living organism where almost all parts are replaceable. Lignotuber is a part of root above ground containing a lot of minerals and chemical elements, so when the tree is dead, new tree is growing from the same lingotuber. Epicormic shoots lie dormant inside a trunk. They have regenerative function, sowhen needed they "wake up" and start to grow. Serotiny amount depends on condition of tree. So, when it is dying a trigger start to work, enlarging the amount of serotiny and launch them.

1. "Food" is placed in centres of attraction.

2. Physrealm simulation.

3. Short walks.

6. Corridors

4. Mold paths

3. Green, education and entertainment Main attracting functions are built.

2. Ground floor- base-

ment Then basements are built.

1. Highway

Firstly, the roads on ground level is built, that resolve problem with city centre entrance. Lignotuber

Wings of ventilation IlariaNAVAstudio

It is a project for an orphanage in the hot climate of Rwanda. Primary idea was to do as cheap as possible from available materials- brick and wood. Main task to challenge was to design a system of natural ventilation.

Architectural sense.

Urban Urban structure around our site is rigid, arranged in a grid formation and bisected by two main radial axes. We interpreted this block of land as an anomaly in the urban tissue and introduce a strong rigid element into the urban tissue. Public. We found it interesting that during the day doors do not stay still, they are unfastened due to the will of the inhabitants. Communal The project makes use of the ballatoio both as distribution element and as the place of informal relations between different areas and levels. Natural Naturality can be interpreted as the relationship between green and architecture: a continuous vegetation system that does not stop on artificial boundaries but exceeds and overruns them. Material The materiality of the project focuses on variable usage of Milanese elements, such as klinker tiles on the ceiling and granite tiles on the pavement.

City

I have lived in a lot of cities in my life and it is a very interesting experience to get inside different culture, habits and borders. Besides, climate and atmosphere are also changing. In my works I try to represent characteristics of different cultures in relation to people that inhabit it.

Forms

These are sketches accompanying my thesis project about biomimetics. It seems that human has build already all possible variety of forms, though nature is still a grand source of inspiration. Besides ethetical beauty, all these structures are showing maximum structural efficiency and minimal material expenditures.
