HAT A PRIVILEGE it has been to be part of the renewal of the National Arts Centre. The new building, – welcoming and accessible – is stunning, and there is a fresh sense of inspiration and energy in the halls of this wonderful place.

I am full of anticipation for the NAC Orchestra season ahead and the glorious music that awaits us. We will host some of the finest performers in the world – artists like Itzhak Perlman, Emanuel Ax, Lang Lang, Angela Hewitt,

This season we invite you to explore the theme of “Heroes and Heroines”, in which our outstanding Orchestra will bring the essence of iconic characters and historical figures to life. You’ll hear Korngold’s Robin Hood, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Ravel’s Pavane, Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben, and Beethoven’s ode to the heroic power of human friendship, his Ninth Symphony.

ANCE that drew me to the world of conducting. I remember listening to cassettes of these pieces as a boy and relishing in the vivid sounds as they conjured images of heroes and heroines in my mind. Scheherazade was a particular favourite – I think I almost wore down the tape from listening and re-listening, its exotic flare capturing my imagination afresh day after day.

See and hear the captivating Russian tale of Prince Ivan and the majestic Firebird as Stravinsky’s famous music comes to life, complete with life-sized puppets, masks and magic.

SEARING SUMMERS, frozen winters, gentle spring rain, and brilliant autumn colours come to life in music. Alain Trudel and the NAC Orchestra explore Antonio Vivaldi’s vibrant Four Seasons, Astor Piazzolla’s energetic Argentinian Tango, and other climate-inspired music with the help of virtuoso guest artists.

If you exchange to a Theatre or Dance performance, you will receive a subscriber-preferred price. PAYMENT PLAN Pay your subscription in three simple payments by post-dated cheque or credit card, each payment is for one third of your total. One third of the total is payable upon subscribing, the second payment will be processed on June 23, 2017 and the third payment will be processed on July 21, 2017. This program is available through June 2017.

Everyone – including children and infants – must have a ticket to be admitted to performances.

No refunds or credits will be offered except in the case of cancellation of a performance.
