THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS A Message from

What a contradictory era we live in! People pretend the pandemic is over…but it isn't really. Black people have more political power than ever…but we are still under attack from people who try to deny our humanity and take away our human rights.

While the NAACP fights for us on the political front, those of us who work in the creative community are making our own statements. Three years of being shut in has created an explosion of content, and there are more choices of black film and television than ever before.

Despite the best e orts of political forces that try to take away our right to vote and erase our history in the classroom, we still have been winning at the ballot box, and we continue to make movies, television shows, music, books, and theatre that tell true stories that engage audiences all over the world.

This is why the Image Awards is one of the most important award shows there is: because we truly celebrate the best in entertainment. This year has a bumper crop of super talented nominees as well as special honorees from the worlds of politics, social activism, sports, and entertainment. We could not be prouder of all their achievements.
