Director’s Note
On behalf of the Moksh Community Arts Board, President- Dr. Manish Rungta, Vice President – Malay Vyas, Secretary- Nithya Venkatesan & Board Member Disha Thadani, I am proud to announce the 6th production from Moksh Community Arts Inc at the Miller Outdoor Theatre.
We are much honored to be part of the epic 100th-year celebration of the legendary Miller Outdoor Theatre. We are grateful to the City of Houston and the Miller Theatre Advisory board for providing amazing performances each year free of cost to the diverse audiences of Houston.
At Moksh Community Arts, our primary goal is to provide a performance platform to nurture local talent and help them develop as individuals, through, creativity, commitment, and cooperation. We work as cultural ambassadors collaborating with other dance, theatre, and music companies from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
This year’s production was specially created for the 100th-year celebration of MOT. Jashn meaning Celebration, is a Bollywood Dance Theatre performance, celebrating the history of Bollywood movies through diverse genres of music, dance, and costumes. Bollywood is a melting pot of global influences creating something that’s uniquely Indian. The production includes an overture and four mesmerizing acts that take you on a magical journey into the colorful world of the carnival, and its many facets, with stylish, colorful, and exuberant costumes, mind-blowing visuals, and lighting, energetic dancers with dramatic and electrifying performances, filling your heart with joy and making you want to dance to the lilting melodies and irresistible Bollywood songs.
As an Artistic Director at Naach Houston, my work is to nurture local talent by sharing my life experience, in the field of dance and performing arts, passing it down to the new generation, and providing performance platforms to showcase their talent. Naach is more than a Dance Institution, we use dance as a means to empower individuals providing the best Dance Education in Houston, the only syllabus-based Bollywood dance Institution, covering diverse dance styles from Contemporary, Hip Hop, Indo Jazz, Latin, and Bollywood Fusion.
The NAACH team has performed for social causes partnering with nonprofits such as Texana, Pratham, and Daya, as well as graced the dance floor at corporate events for Fluor, KBR, and AAHOA, just to name a few. Naach has performed with superstars such as Bappi Lahiri, Richa Sharma, Raghav, and Farhan Akhtar. Naach Houston has been collaborating with Traci Green from the Culture Arts Initiative since 2018, performing for the production of The Urban Nutcracker.

Overview of the Show
Houston’s Got Bollywood 2023 - Jashn, a celebration
Let’s celebrate the history of Bollywood movies through music, dance, and brilliant costumes! This performance will be a musical journey featuring Naach Houston, a Bollywood community dance theatre company. Audiences are sure to be mesmerized by the glitter and glam of this wildly colorful production.
The Show opens with an Overture showcasing the essence of the theme – a celebration.
Act One: Monochrome Melodies
This act takes you through the black and white era of Bollywood, with the songs from that era depicted through beautiful monochromatic visuals and dance style pertinent to that era.
Act Two: Trips in Technicolor
This Act explores the realm of Technicolor depicted through the music, colorful costumes, stunning visual imagery and the sheer exuberance of the dances. The dances take you on a cultural trip to different parts of India.
Act Three: Ballroom Glitz
his act epitomizes the grandeur, elegance and the romance interpreted through beautifully woven dances, exquisite costumes and melodic music.
Act Four: Jashn; literally means Celebration
The finale act which showcases the vibrancy and diversity of Indian culture through its festivities in true Bollywood style.
Moksh Community Arts strives to make Dance an integral part of life for all individuals within the context of a community inclusive of all social and cultural backgrounds. They believe in the transformative power of dance, to integrate the body and mind for total wellness. Through dance we intend to create a holistic experience in every participant and thereby impact the larger community.
