In the 1950s, Texans suffered through a record-breaking, seven-year drought. Water shortages caused problems all across the state and President Eisenhower declared all but 10 counties as drought disaster areas.

To prevent these water shortages in the future, state water planners initiated a reservoir-building boom that included our very own Lake Conroe. The city of Houston, the Texas Water Development Board, and the San Jacinto River Authority worked together on the project to create an alternative water source for the city of Houston. The dam, which spans 2.2 miles and reaches an average of 212 feet above sea level, was completed in 1973. Now, Lake Conroe is the centerpiece of the community with its many waterfront neighborhoods, private golf courses, and upscale dining and shopping.

THE FAMILY

We’d like to introduce Tim and Dailene Gardner, of Montgomery and Conroe Comprehensive Dental Centers. Tim Gardner graduated from the Woodlands High School in 1983, received his BBA of Finance at the University of Texas at Austin, and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1991.

Tim and his wife, Dailene Gardner, have been decadeslong residents of Conroe, purchasing land in 1994 on Walden at Lake Conroe. They are active members of charity and have started multiple community projects

which include Dentistry from the Heart and Dentistry for the Vets. They offer scholarships every year to high school seniors from four different local schools. They donate roughly $3,000 a year to local student-led programs such as football, band, cheerleading, golf, softball, and rugby. They provide food for all the residents of the women’s shelter once a year, as well as serve meals to senior citizens at the Lone Star Community Center.

In their free time, they enjoy water-skiing in Lake Conroe, hiking in Sam Houston National Forest, and playing tennis at Bentwater Yacht and Country Club, April Sound Golf and Country Club, and Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club. They also sponsor many golf and tennis events at these facilities. They love to hunt at the Shooter Station on Hwy. 105 West and enjoy gardening with the Lion’s Club at the Memory Park, located adjacent to the Charles B. Stewart Library. Their favorite restaurant to dine at is the Walden Yacht Club.

Their business mission statement is “to provide comprehensive dental care in a relaxed, comfortable setting, using the latest technologies and the best materials available.” They apply the “Golden Rule” to everything they do. The same can be said for what they bring to the community of Lake Conroe as well.
