WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

As a welcome to the area, we’d like to help you settle in by giving you a $25 gift card to use at a local establishment. Be one of the first two readers to email us this month, and let us know how you’ve been using your BeLocal Cranberry magazine.

TO THE

NEIGHBORHOOD! WELCOME

YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE IT HERE.

When I travel, the first thing I say is, “Where do the locals go, and who do they use for their services?”

Nine years ago, when I moved less than 30 minutes from one town over to the next, I had no idea who my electric company was. I didn’t know where the best place was to get a great salad or Chinese.

I am excited to introduce this publication written exclusively by the locals in the area to help you adapt to your new home and find the hotspots all across town, choose the best contractors and locally trusted businesses in the area.

You’ll be able to quickly find the hidden gems that have taken some of us years to discover! (Hopefully this resource will help you find your new Chinese restaurant, or a great mechanic).

LOCAL TIP

“If you like to volunteer and meet like-minded people, there are three Cranberry Rotary Clubs to meet your schedule. Sunrise Club meets every Friday at 7:30 a.m., Sunset Club meets the last Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., and the Noon Club meets every Tuesday at noon.” — Teresa G.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy life with this guide to your new hometown

Welcome to the neighborhood!

THE FAMILY

Snyder

Meet the Snyder family from Ross Township. Zach (30), Emma (27), Charlotte (6), Lila (2), and Addalynne (Addy for short is 6 months). They keep themselves extremely busy.

The Snyders have lived in Ross Township since 2020. Zach grew up in Butler County and has moved around Pittsburgh since then. Emma grew up in Erie, PA and came to Pittsburgh for college and has stayed here ever since.

Emma - Graduated from Duquesne University with a bachelor’s in supply chain management. Zach - Enrolled in the Marines Corps. Reserves and joined the IBEW Local 5 as an apprentice. He is now a journeyman electrician.

Zach and Emma both are passionate about real estate and growing their businesses. “We believe the life we are creating as business owners is pretty unique. We knew we wanted more flexibility and

control over our time and finances when Charlotte was very young. So we have been building that ever since. We have flexibility as business owners to be more present for our daughters. We love working on flipping real estate to see it restored in different communities. We have taken many risks in our careers to create better balance for our lives.” Emma is also a co-author of a best-selling book, Business On Purpose and will be a part of another anthology that is being published about balancing motherhood and business.

Emma loves Fit4Mom’s North Hills to connect with other moms in the community. Poppins Playhouse is one of the girls favorite spots to play, especially on rainy days. The Farmer’s Market at the Block Northway in the summer is a favorite for them. Seville Park, Bayne Park, Knob Hill, and North Park are favorite playgrounds!

Currently, Lila and Charlotte take gymnastics at Gymkhana in Wexford. They love the programs. Charlotte takes ice skating lessons in the winter, loves going to open skate when she can. She takes baking classes at Flour Power in Gibsonia on her summer break.

Favorite coffee spots: Urban Trail, Cafe Conmigo, BreanThru, Saxonburg Coffee and Tea, Mediterra Cafe

Favorite restaurants: Mia Madre Trattoria (Avlon), ChengDu (North Hill), Slippery Mermaid (Sewickley), Waffles Incaffeinated (Wexford), R&B Pizza (Bellevue).

Their gym is Crunch Fitness on McKnight Road since they have a kids room. Kniess Miniature Golf is another great spot in the summer

Emma, her mom, and her aunt love taking the girls to the Tea on Main in Saxonburg

for their princess tea. During the week when Emma is home with the girls, she takes them to Discovery Christian Church to utilize their community room and the Cranberry Library. During the summer one of the girls’ favorite places to go is Scoops in Bellevue for ice cream.

“We love supporting local business owners and events. We constantly are looking for and attending any events we can find that the communities are hosting within our community. We truly enjoy a lot of the boroughs in the North Hills and all they have to offer.”

The Snyders are passionate about giving back when and where they can through their business. Since Zach is a Veteran, they look to hire Veterans within his company and utilize Pittsburgh Hires Veterans to find candidates. Emma is an advocate for Domestic Violence survivors through her business she has shared her own story and supported other female entrepreneurs who went through domestic violence. Through her business she helps connect women to key resources in the area or online when she can.

MOMS’ GROUPS & DAY CARES

MOMS’ GROUPS & DAY CARES

Mealtime, play time, nap time, bath time, bed time, repeat. Caring for our little ones is exhausting, but the time spent with them is precious. As the expression goes, the days are long but the years are short. were little, the teenage years seemed so far away. 15 years old. I miss snuggling with them, reading Sandra Boynton books before bedtime, and smelling their clean baby-powdered heads after bath time. Now, the aroma coming from my teenage boys is a medley of adolescent odors that is not always pleasant! Whatever the stage of parenting, it’s important to have a community of other moms who can offer advice and support.

When my boys were preschoolers, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) was a lifeline for me. MOPS is an international organization with the simple, but invaluable mission of bringing moms together to share their parenting journeys. MOPS and other local moms’ group provide adult interaction, as well as a much-needed break from parenting, as on-site childcare is provided.

HERE ARE SOME LOCAL MOMS’ GROUPS IN THE AREA:

From one mom to another, I encourage you to seek out a moms’ group during the challenging preschool years. Whether it’s a formal moms’ group like MOPS, or just a group of moms who get together for play dates, you’ll feel recharged after spending time with other moms who can walk alongside you during your parenting years.
