THE
DeCastro MEET
FAMILY

“WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU JUST KNOW!”
That’s exactly how my husband Matt and I felt when we considered buying a home in Grove City. After spending years suburb-hopping around central Ohio, we were ready to find the place where we could settle down, start a family and truly call home. That place for us was Grove City.
Matt and I both attended Capital University where we met many years ago. I’m originally from Gahanna and Matt is from a small town in Southeastern, Ohio. After graduation, we were married and launched the careers that we both love so much. Matt is a District Administrator for South-Western City Schools; and along with being a marketing consultant, I work part-time in the Community Relations department for the City of Grove City. We stay busy in Grove City - both
professionally and personally - (so busy in fact, my six-yearold daughter Samantha and I started an Instagram page dedicated to our life around town - @BusyInGroveCity)! I’m Vice President of the PTA board at Samantha’s school and serve on the Interactive Media Design advisory committee at SWCS’s Career Academy. We are honored to serve the school district and community we love so dearly.
When we’re not shuttling Samantha around from activity to activity, we love watching football, visiting Grove City’s fabulous park system and sitting on our porch. If you walk by, you’ll know it’s us - Samantha will likely be in the front yard practicing her gymnastics or cruising the block on her bike. We can’t wait to make a million more memories in Grove City and hope you love it here as much as we do.

SANDRA QUICK
Written by Sandra Quick
Sandra is a retired teacher and high school principal who has lived in Grove City for about three years. As a “seasoned citizen” (as her friends say), she was looking to downsize from a large suburban home. She found the perfect condo with solace, space, and social gatherings. Her first floor master suite and beautiful deck overlooking the pond will allow her to “age in place” very comfortably. “The neighbors are caring and thoughtful; they even call to remind someone about leaving the garage door up.” Sandra is currently the Block Watch Captain and is on the Board of Trustees for her condo community, where she shines at helping everyone feel like part of the “family”.
In 2017, Sandra’s daughter, Malaika, moved back to OH from AZ to focus on earning her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is looking forward to starting her clinicals in the fall of 2019. She and her two fur babies live, upstairs in their own space.
Since retiring, Sandra has started two businesses: (1) JOY Unspeakable, LLC- “helping people restore broken relationships and preserve healthy ones.” (2) OUR History Awakens- “commemorating the African American experience in America through living history performances and engaging educational activities”. Sandra recently went to Liberia, West Africa to instruct teachers with student-centered learning using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
As for Grove City favorites, Sandra loves the Grove City Library and the various events held in downtown Grove City. She has taken Silver Sneakers classes at the YMCA and visits the NAZ (Grove City Church of the Nazarene), when she doesn’t want to drive across town to her home church. Everyone there is very inviting, and the two churches have a history together. Sandra, Malaika, and Danielle (daughter-in-love) all participated in the Turkey Wattle, Thanksgiving Day 2018.
Sandra with kids in Liberia, actively learning math!
