BREAST cancer is the highest incidence cancer – ahead of melanoma – affecting Sunshine Coast women, with 450 being diagnosed here each year. One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. For the past decade, Tracey G Prosthetics and Lingerie has been offering specialised products, including prosthetic breast forms and mastectomy lingerie and swimwear, and is now the state’s largest prosthetics and lingerie store. Relocating to larger premises in Norval Court, Maroochydore, has meant the extensive range of transformative products for women after breast cancer surgery has been doubled. Owner Tracey Grills identified the need for such products in 2010 while volunteering for the McGrath Foundation. Breast care nurses would tell her that patients did not have many options for prosthetic and bra fitting services and products. Tracey started the business from her garage and worked nights and weekends for several years before quitting her day job and opening a commercial premises in Maroochydore in 2016. “It honestly is an absolute privilege to assist and support women, and their families, during one of the most difficult times in their life, after going through breast cancer diagnosis, surgery, treatment and into their next chapter of survivorship,” Tracey said. “One of the biggest worries we see among women following breast cancer surgery is the unknown. “Many women are worried about post-surgery changes to their appearance under their clothes or when exercising or swimming and our role is to offer a range of practical solutions during this difficult time.” Tracey G Prosthetics and Lingerie offers a wide range of prosthetics and specialised mastectomy lingerie to assist

women becoming comfortable and confident after surgery and provides multiple options regardless of breast shape, body shape and type of surgery. Relocating to larger premises in Norval Court provides access to an extensive range of large cup lingerie from AA to K and band sizes from 6 to 30. The store is also one of only two Amoena outlets in Australia with a team of qualified prosthetic fitters. “What I love most is seeing the transformation in customers who visit the store and discover that every garment on display was made with them in mind,” Tracey said. “Initially many are unsure of what’s available and when they see the range of mastectomy lingerie, swimwear and clothing, they become very emotional with relief.” The team at Tracey G can also assist with submitting a claim through the Australian Government’s External Breast Prostheses Reimbursement Program. All women who have had breast surgery as a result of breast cancer and who are permanent Australian residents or holders of an eligible visa and are eligible for Medicare, can claim the reimbursement. Qualified prosthetic fitters are available for in-home and hospital visits as well as after-hours appointments for greater privacy upon request. They are also welcome to bring a friend or family member with them for support during a fitting appointment. “There’s no such thing as normal as every single woman is her own person with her own story and her own needs,” Tracey says. “Our job is to figure out how to help her best self. Every individual body is treated equally and everyone is encouraged to wear what makes them happy.” Call in at Unit 6, 1 Norval Court, Maroochydore, shop online at traceyg.com or call 0466 828 144.
