QUEENSLAND’S premier gardening event, the three-day Queensland Garden Expo is coming up next month.

Manager Marion Beazley said while it was disappointing that the 2020 Expo was cancelled by the pandemic, the resulting increase in gardeners provided an exciting opportunity for this year’s event, the 36th annual expo.

There will be 350 exhibitors, including 55 nurseries, and up to 45 guest speakers presenting an action-packed program.

“Back to basics” talks are held each day for visitors who are new to gardening, and also many topics for the more experienced.

Speakers include ABC Gardening Australia gurus Sophie Thomson, Costa Georgiadis and Jerry Coleby-Williams, as well as event favourites Adam Woodhams, Dr Kevin Redd and Phil Dudman.

Others include Claire Bickle who loves all things about keeping chickens; Dr Tim Heard who specialises in bees; fruit fly expert Professor Richard Drew; and Peter Young who knows everything about growing fruit trees.
