USING

DONOR EGGS CREATES

AN

OPPORTUNITY

TO BUILD A FAMILY FOR ANYONE FOR WHOM USING THEIR OWN EGGS ISN’T POSSIBLE OR RECOMMENDED

This path honours the many unique journeys to parenthood and supports all who are growing their families through surrogacy.

This may be due to medical reasons, previous IVF outcomes, age-related infertility, genetic conditions, or if you are a same-sex male couple or single parent by choice. We understand how overwhelming this decision can feel. That’s why, through Ethica, we support you with:

• Access to a wide and diverse pool of carefully screened donors

• Personalised advice from our team

• A transparent, step-by-step process so you feel confident and informed at every stage

WHERE DO WE SELECT DONORS FROM?

Ethica works with donors from Mexico and the United States, offering a diverse and carefully curated donor pool.

Every donor is:

• Aged 18–32, healthy and non-smoking

• AMH level over 2.0 ng/ml (a marker of ovarian reserve)

• Screened for genetic, medical, and infectious diseases

• Supported with emotional counselling and education throughout

All donors undergo:

• Infectious diseases screening –HIV, Hepatitis B & C, HTLV Sphyllis, Gonorrhoea , Chlamydia and CMV

• Hormones, TSH, prolactin and oestradiol

• Genetic – Chromosome Karyotyping and cystic fibrosis, sickle cell, Tay Sachs

• General – Full blood count, blood group, and Rh factor, blood sugar, kidney/liver function

• Cervical (PAP) smear

• Vaginal cultures and urine tests

Once all screening has been completed and the donor is approved, they will be added to our profile platform.

We mainly use fresh eggs for embryo creation and so egg retrieval won’t be carried out until you match with your donor. Once the eggs have been retrieved, they will be introduced to the sperm and we will wait until the next day for fertilisation to take place. Once fertilised the embryo will continue to divide into a cleavage stage embryo by day 2-3 and then onto a blastocyst embryo by day 5.

Your donor will be managed and supported by our Mexico City donation team, who will liaise with your UK Membership Experience Manager to ensure you are kept up to date with all relevant information.

The donor will have access to the Mexico transportation team to take her to and from her appointments (within a 32 km radius) in order to minimize inconvenience and ensure she can easily attend appointments.

The donor will be accompanied by a member of the Ethica team to medical appointments.

As part of the process both donors and intended parents sign detailed medical and legal consents to ensure that all parties are fully informed of their implications and rights.

The following paperwork is also completed and with this and the consents in place it ensures that the intended parents hold full legal rights over the embryos that are created and that the donors have no parental rights or responsibilities.

• Trilateral Agreement (IPs, Ethica, clinic)

• Donor contract (donor + Ethica only)

• Medical and storage consents

On average it will take 6-12 weeks from donor match to embryo storage. The range in time taken is dependent on donor availability and whether you choose CGT+ testing to be carried out.

We recommend carrying out CGT+ testing on the Intended parents and the egg donor, to determine if the Intended parents and the donor carry the same defective genetic mutations which could give a 1:4 chance of a child being born with the disease
