MYSTIC ELITE STUDIOS REGIONAL COMPETITIONS

Explore the world of dance and enter into a category new to you!

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Reasonable entry fees & generous awards

Coaches are ALWAYS FREE! (up to 4)

Professionally produced fun event ALWAYS about the kids !

Judges are qualified, educated & experienced professional dancers, coaches, dance educators or leaders

Team Photos will be professionally taken (Available for purchase at competition)

Videos of the routines will be available 3-4 weeks after competition has concluded.

WHAT PARENTS CAN EXPECT

A fully stocked, reasonably priced concession stand. Concessions can be paid via Cash, Cash app or Zelle.

Parents will receive a wristband for easy in and out privileges to the competition.

MYSTIC ELITE STUDIOS REGIONAL COMPETITIONS

Each team MUST complete a registration packet for this event.

Registration Fee is $150 PER STUDIO/TEAM.

Registration fee is DUE exactly 60 days before the event!

LATE Registration is $200 this can be paid up until 30 days before the event.

In order to run a smooth event we never accept registration after the 30 day mark. (Please enjoy early registration into our next event instead)

An adult (21yrs+) Coach/Chaperone must accompany, and be responsible for each studio entered.

Tickets will be sold ONLY on Event Brite (This keeps the ticket entry line short as well as easily keeps track of how many tickets each team sold. This fool proof way keeps ticket stress off the coaches and allows the parent to have unlimited access to their entry ticket via email.

Once they enter they will receive a wristband for easy in and out privileges.

Each Team/Studio must sale a minimum of 20 tickets at $25 each in order to be eligible for cash prizes.

MYSTIC ELITE STUDIOS REGIONAL COMPETITIONS Registration

Your Registration Fee covers your entry into 1 division only. $50 is added for each additional division you would like to compete in.

-Studio (1 entry in each)

(Mini, junior, Senior Jazz, Mini, Junior, Senior Lyrical)

-Specialty (1 entry in each)

(Mini, Jr, Sr Hip Hop/ Mini, Jr, Sr Pom/ Combined Creative Open Dance)

-Majorette (1 entry in each)

(Combined Field show, Mini, Jr, Sr Stands)

-Solo/Duo/Trio (1 entry in each)

(Mini, Jr, Sr Solo / Mini, Jr ,Sr Duo / Mini, Jr, Sr Trio)

Any additional entries into the same category will be $25 additional per routine. (They will be competing against each other)

(Example: 3 Mini SOLO Routines- the 1st one is included the 2nd one is $25 and the 3rd one is $25.)

GENERAL INFO

Entry fees are Non-refundable

A spectators fee will be charged to everyone (besides dancers and coaches) in order to enter the building.

This is an OPEN event we welcome all dance studios and teams to come and compete.

Age divisions are based on the "average grade" of your team

Only the first place winner will receive the cash prize.

Bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated and Studio/Team will be disqualified.

The qualified judging panel will be in a pre-marked area. All judging sheets will be returned to the coach after awards.

Music, Costuming & Choreography should all be family friendly. Please remember this a safe, family friendly event.

All teams must be respectful at all times.

Designated changing areas will be assigned and ALL TEAMS are required to clean up behind themselves.

Judges will select ALL winners.

All teams must email music, and have a back up on a flash drive or a phone w/ cord adapters. Email music to (hello@mysticelitestudios.com) 1 week before competition.

Do not stand behind the judges table while teams are performing.

Do not walk in front of the judges table while teams are performing.

No outside food is allowed.

No disrespect from team members, parents, coaches or spectators of teams, they will be disqualified and asked to leave.

Please do not go over your allowed time for ANY category or points will be deducted.

Only dancers, staff, coaches are allowed in the changing areas, and on the dance floor.

A contemporary or lyrical routine can incorporate the following approaches to movement: organic, pedestrian, traditional modern, and/or traditional ballet. Movement complements the lyric and/or rhythmic value of the music. Emphasis is placed on sustained, expressive movement, control, contraction/release, use of breath, uniformity, communication and technical skills.

A jazz routine encompasses traditional or stylized hard hitting, crisp and/or aggressive approach to movement and can include moments of softness while complementing musicality. Emphasis is placed on body alignment, extension, control, uniformity, communication and technical skills.

Props are allowed, but please be mindful and don’t use anything that can be a risk to the crowd or damage to the facility (no powder, glitter, confetti, etc).

Choose from entering a Solo, Duo OR Trio into this category. This is judged in three different age divisions but, the dance styles are OPEN. Any style of dance. Solo = 1 dancer/ Duo=2 dancers/ Trio=3 dancers. These cannot be switched out with other dancers during the routine.

Each team can have 2 entries Max! Solos/Trios/Duos are open to any age in any style.

The routine should resemble something you would see at an HBCU football game half-time show. Many styles, including majorette, are upbeat and fast paced. Some include multiple genres of dance such as jazz, lyrical, modern, etc.

MINI STAND BATTLE - The Teams will line up on opposing sides of the gym. Before the start of the battle, the designated line will be pointed out and SHALL NOT be crossed. The DJ will select a song from the playlist and each team must showcase their skills and creativity within the time limit.

Mini Teams will throw 1 fast and 1 medium stand and then a team will be eliminated. Second round, 1 fast will be thrown and then a winner will be chosen.

JR STAND BATTLE - The Teams will line up on opposing sides of the gym. Before the battle start the designated line will be pointed out and SHALL NOT be crossed. The DJ will select a song from the playlist and each team must showcase their skills and creativity within the time limit.

Any ties will be broken with a 30 sec Captains battle to a song selected from the Stand Battle list. Times starts after Captain throws it. Any team that crosses the boundary line, including body parts, hair or accessories, will be disqualified.

Teams Will Be Judged On a Scale Out of 10

Overall Impression –

Genuine projection, energy, and eye contact. Dancers must display confident, authentic expression to convey the intended message and/or concept. Appropriateness of music, costume and choreography. Reflects overall audience appeal and personal impression of each judge.

Uniformity –

Consistent unison and timing/rhythm by the group as a whole. Uniformity and precision demonstrated by the team in both choreography and skills.

Spacing –

The ability of dancers to gauge and position themselves correct distances between each other in and throughout all formations and transitions. Judges will be looking for formations to be clear and precise.

Execution of Technical Elements –

The demonstration of proper execution of technical skills and elements including, but not limited to, pom passes, kick lines, jumps, leaps, turns, etc.

Movement Technique – The dancers’ ability to exhibit the presented style effectively and continually throughout the routine. This includes the overall strength and sharpness of motions and movement, as well as the dancers’ level of musicality, motion control and precision. For POM, this includes the accuracy of pom work and body placement.

Creativity & Originality –

Originality of routine, new concepts and visuals, incorporation of a variety of motions that supports the flow of the routine and complements the music. Creative and unpredictable visual effects that are developed through use of creative floor work, group/partner work, level changes, ripples, etc.

Routine Staging –

The seamless incorporation of unique and challenging formations and transitions. Transitions create a natural flow between formations and visuals within the routine and across the performance space. Use of floor will be judged as well.

Difficulty –

The difficulty of the routine (does not reflect execution). Overall level, pace and intricacy of motions and movement such as footwork, direction changes and skills. Effective incorporation of challenging elements while utilizing the appropriate ability level of the team. The choreographic choice of mastered movement and technical elements, as well as utilizing a majority of the team to execute difficult movement and/or skills is also considered. Feature and/or soloist moments enhance the routine without dominating it.
