MACKINAC ISLAND, MICHIGAN

Located in Lake Huron, Mackinac Island is one of the preeminent tourist destinations in the mid-western United States. No cars are allowed on this charming island, so horses and bicycles are the primary modes of transportation. All transportation for excursions will be by horse-drawn carriage or by foot if desired. On the island, we will enjoy a narrated tour viahorse-drawn carriage as we ride to Fort Mackinac. On the way, enjoy a stop at Surrey Hill and a guided adventure through the wooded section of the island. At the fort, we will be greeted by a Michigan State Park representative before enjoying an educational tour including a cannon and rifle firing. Next, we will stop for a traditional Grand Buffet lunch in the beautiful dining room of the famous Grand Hotel. This historic hotel and coastal resort was constructed in the late 19th century and advertises itself as having the world’s largest porch. The Grand Hotel has had many notable visitors, including five U.S. presidents, Thomas Edison, and Mark Twain. After lunch, we encourage you to spend the rest of your time leisurely exploring this town stuck in time — the perfect opportunity for sightseeing, shopping, and enjoying the Great Lakes! Note: Be sure to dress appropriately, as the island can experience colder temperatures and high winds.

Special Presentation After our visit to Mackinac Island, the Grand Hotel historian, Bob Tagatz, will board the vessel and deliver a special presentation to our Victory passengers!
