“Where are our grapes?” said Bird.

Then they saw tracks in the mud.

“I do not know,” said Worm.

“They are not here.”

Bird and Worm looked and looked.

“Look at the tracks in the mud,” said Bird.

“Yes,” said Worm.

“The animals that made the tracks must have our grapes,” said Bird.

“Yes,” said Worm.

“The animals that made the tracks must have lots of legs,” said Bird.

“Insects have six legs,” said Worm.

“Yes,” said Bird.

“An insect has the grapes.”

Bird and Worm looked for insects.

“A bee is an insect,” said Worm.

“A butterfly is an insect and an ant is an insect, too.”

“Yes,” said Bird.

“But which insect has the grapes?”

Bird and Worm kept looking.

“Look at this,” said Bird.

“The tracks go into this crack,” said Worm.

“An insect with wings would not fit in there,” said Bird.

“A bee has wings,” said Bird.

“A bee would not fit into the crack.”

“A butterfly has wings too,” said Worm.

“An ant has no wings,” said Bird.

“So an ant must have the grapes.”

Worm and Bird went to look for ants.

“Here are the ants.

And here are the grapes,” they said.
