LONGVIEW BEEF

I PLEDGE MY HEAD TO CLEARER THINKING, MY HEART TO GREATER LOYALTY, MY HANDS TO LARGER SERVICE, MY HEALTH TO BETTER LIVING, FOR MY CLUB, MY COMMUNITY, MY COUNTRY, AND MY WORLD.
Thank you for considering the purchase of one of these fantastic beef steers. All of the members have worked hard to produce a fine crop of finished beef. These market finished animals are typically in the top tier of grading and marbling quality, making this an excellent option to fill your freezer.
The perception that 4-H beef is more expensive than simply purchasing at your local grocery store is no longer the case with today’s prices. But, if you consider the special treatment and care that the 4-H club kids put into raising an incredible quality product, this beef is in a class of its own.
4-H steers purchased at the Show & Sale are eligible for slaughter at a local abattoir if you wish to use the beef personally. The club will arrange free delivery to the processor of your choice in the two weeks following the sale. However, you will be responsible for the processing fees.
If you wish to purchase a steer for promotional purposes, and do not wish to retain the beef, Burgardt’s Butcher Shop will purchase the steer at Cargill’s rail price on the sale day (not day of delivery). Rail price is paid on the hot hanging weight, not live weight. Rail prices can be obtained sale day from any of the club leaders, based on the fat market.
Thank you very much for considering the purchase of this great source of locally, responsibly raised Alberta beef. Without the community support and you, as a prospective buyer, we would not be able to function as such a successful club.
Thank you for your investment in our club and the future of the kids. Your support and generosity is appreciated!
We would like to acknowledge the generosity of Eastern Slope Philanthropists as well as Transcend LLP.
Billy is a Simmental steer donated by Highwood Valley Ranch and Reed Snodgrass. When he first came home he was very shy and wanted nothing to do with me. When halter breaking I learned that he was strong willed and did not think he should have to listen to me. I soon learned I could bribe him with alfalfa cubes. He has been fed grass hay, and feed lot ration without any growth hormones.
This year, all proceeds from the sale of Billy will go to the:
HIGH RIVER DISTRICT HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION
On behalf of the members of the Longview 4H Beef Club I invite you to our annual show and sale.
Alberta has had some tough weather the last few years and as I write this we have 10 inches of wet snow on the ground. This year is looking up already!! Wet snow on the ground and the highest beef prices I have ever seen.
This past October the club weighed in 14 steers and registered 6 heifer projects. Our members are busy putting the hours in, halter breaking and feeding their projects.
All members are working hard to fundraise for the High River District Health Care Foundation donation steer as well. Without generous support this project would not be as amazing as it is. Community and family support is paramount to our clubs continuing success.
We thank you for your present support and we look forward to years of serving our community. We hope to see you all sale day May 20th.
