Andi Stapels, at Water Pointe Realty Group: Professional, Patient and Personable I was fortunate to chat with Andi Stapels, a licensed Realtor® at Water Pointe Realty Group in Sewall’s Point, for this publication. Andi has been in the industry for five years, however, based on what I learned from her, I would have thought real estate was her lifelong career.

Andi graduated from Baker College with a degree in American Sign Language, then worked in multiple school districts as a sign language interpreter. In 2014, she and her family relocated from Michigan to the Treasure Coast, where she started her career as a licensed Realtor®. Her experience as an interpreter has taught Andi to be patient. Andi’s enthusiasm for her profession resonated with me; simply, she loves what she does, divulging, “I like when people get excited about the process.”

As a seller’s Realtor®, Andi is a nonstop force covering all bases. Andi hires a professional to take not only exterior and interior photos, but also aerial photos, photos of the community, and videos of the home. When she lists a home, Andi is present throughout the entire process. She is there for photography day, inspections, and every showing of the home. She is always prepared to answer questions from the buyers about the home, community, and overall real estate transaction process.

So, why else should you choose Andi and what makes her different?

Andi has a unique perspective on the house-hunting process. First, Andi recommends that the buyer meet with a Realtor® in person before the process begins. The buyer should interview three Realtors® in total to see if they are a good fit. “The chemistry has to be there,” Andi explains, continuing, “there has to be respect, kindness, and appreciation between buyer and agent.

Once an agent is selected, Andi

recommends checking out the location of the homes found online, which can narrow down your selection to a few homes. She likes to educate her buyers before they walk into the home, especially about the details of the terms. Terms include title responsibility, inspection period, and closing time frame. Andi emphasizes, “There is more to purchasing a home than just the price. The terms are just as important as the price of the home.”

I was impressed with Andi’s knowledge and experience, but I also found Andi to be down to earth and easy to talk to. She has formed good working relationships with fellow agents, appraisers, and clients, who all appreciate her professionalism.

he past week has been fraught with misery across the globe… the Afghanistan situation, and the worry of those left behind. California burning.

Major flooding in Tennessee.

Hurricane Ida and its decimation of Louisiana and Mississippi, flooding days later as hurricane Ida made its way up the east coast and killed at least 45 innocent people by drowning. It is nearly impossible to grasp what is happening, and the sadness that permeates the globe as people are displaced, hungry, thirsty, hot, and exhausted, and while all this is occurring, the pandemic rages on. Hospitals are overflowing, people that have medical issues are afraid to go to the emergency rooms, those that do go, have to wait hours to be seen because of Covid emergencies. Some hospitals have turned patients away. As if this wasn’t enough, the country is divided, kids fighting kids, adults fighting adults, teachers dying, to mask or not to mask, to get the vaccine or hope for the best.

These are unprecedented times, scary times, and really, really sad times. It is as if the bottom has fallen out, and nothing can be put back together. Climate 78

change threatens to change the world, massive storms are predicted to become the norm, and yet, we are all trying to continue walking forward, one foot in front of the other, because, what else can we do?

There are so many people in need, and so many funds that need money. At least in Florida we are somewhat prepared for storms of this magnitude. We understand that we have to have supplies of food and water on hand, we fill up our gas tanks and gas cans, we check our generators, and check our supply of plywood or hurricane shutters. Most of us in flood zones know the importance of having flood insurance. That is not the norm in New York or New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Maryland, and certainly not a city such as Philadelphia. I grew up in New Jersey, and while I was young, we lived in a basement apartment in Elizabeth. If I lived there now, it is likely my entire family might have drowned. I shutter to think of what could have happened, and I shutter to imagine what has happened to people just trying to save money, buy a house, raise a family, and do the best they can.

Then this. The unimaginable.

The horror of it all.

Cars submerged, houses demolished, furniture and memorabilia ruined.

I don’t know what we can do, or should do. I donated some money, certainly not enough, to the Red Cross, but that is a drop in the bucket.

I wish someone would come on television and tell us where we can drop off clothing, shoes, baby items, hygiene items, food, and water. I would gladly pack up my entire pantry if it would help, because at times like these, we should be on our knees in gratitude that we are not hungry or homeless.

For What it’s Worth, if we

could all do one thing, give one dollar, send one prayer, it wouldn’t solve the problems, but it would make a difference to some child, some family, and most of all, to ourselves. We are innately a kind and generous species, and now is the time to dig deep and do what you can to help.
