We are all weary. We are all worried.

These are hard times, unpredictable times that we are not prepared for, pummeled from every direction by problems with money, relationships, hardships and illness. The days of lighthearted banter and endless dinner parties have given way to every person for themselves, guarding their children, their pocketbooks and their safety. I understand. I wish I knew the answers, and if I find them, I promise I will let you know. But for now, all I can suggest is that we turn off the endless streaming of newscasts that bring horrific images into our homes, that we shelter our children from the evilness of some individuals, and reinforce to them our values, instilled in us from

better times, from earlier days, from those who wanted something better for their lives. It is the reason our country became great, and the reason we have to remain great.

We can’t do it alone, but if we all ban together, if we all join forces, if we see what we can achieve when we are not divided, then we can also believe there is hope, because without hope, what do we have?
