Local Mended Hearts chapter marks 55th anniversary Officers and members of Mended Hearts Chapter 050 - Rochester observed the chapter’s 55th anniversary when it received a certificate from the national organization at its monthly meeting on Monday, October 18. It
offers the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families, and caregivers. It brings together patients, spouses, family members, and medical professionals to form a network of caring and informed individuals. It visits cardiac patients recovering from heart procedures and surgery at both Rochester General and Strong Memorial Hospitals. The group holds meetings ten months a year on the third Monday of the month where speakers discuss heart-related subjects. Guest speakers have included cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, pharmacists, dietitians, cardio rehab nurses, fellow heart patients, and others. The chapter always encourages and welcomes new members and says when people join, they just don’t become members; they become friends.
