“Equitable Education For Every Ugandan Child”

We are thrilled to bring you exciting updates from the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda Your unwavering support has been instrumental in our journey at My Home Stars, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude.

Our mission remains unchanged: To inspire children to take ownership of their education and empower them to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Through engaging, transformative educational programs, we strive to make this vision a reality In this edition, we provide an overview of our activities during the second academic term of 2024.

The second term of the year opened on Monday 27th May 2024 and closed on Friday 23rd August 2024. During this time, our team of educational game facilitators and educators focused on two objectives:

Classroom Transformation With 5 Staz Modules

We’re excited to report that over 2,000 pupils from Primary 4 to Primary 7 in our five partner schools have continued to benefit from the 5 Staz educational games as part of their classroom learning experience.

These game-based modules have strengthened students' academic skills, providing an enriching and enjoyable way to engage with Uganda’s school curriculum Our approach ensures that the educational gaps often exacerbated by teacher shortages are being addressed.

The games are not confined to the classroom; students can borrow them, enabling continued learning at home. This has led to notable improvements in academic performance

Inspiring Excellence: The Language Development Challenge

This term, we also hosted our annual Language Development Challenge, an event designed to boost literacy and communication skills through a dynamic and competitive format

This year, 130 participants—100 students, 20 teachers, and 10 stakeholders took part.

The challenge fostered a sense of achievement, with rewards further motivating the participants Students demonstrated growth in literacy, spelling accuracy, and communication fluency The teachers noted the students' newfound confidence even in high-pressure

A huge thank you to each one of you that has supported our work. My Home Stars is 100% donation and grant operated and we couldn’t have done all this without your support.
