DearFriendsandSupporters,

ExpandingOurReach: TransformingClassroomsandEmpoweringLearners

This year, we didn’t just deliver games we transformed learning spaces, empowered teachers, and inspired students Through our interactive 5 Staz modules, we fostered child-centered learning for more than 2,000 children throughout our partner schools. Some of our programs that made a difference include;

1TheDice&DreamProgram

Designed to improve the way children access education and engage with studies, our focus is to make learning more child-centered, fun and engaging The 5 Staz educational games and modules have proven to be a great resource to our partner schools, thanks to the teachers who continue to provide excellent guidance to the students In 2024, the Dice & Dream Program has been the cornerstone of our work proving to inspire young minds striving for academic excellence

2.TheLittleDreamersForum

The Little Dreamers Forum is one of our newest programs launched last year with a goal to equip refugee children with the confidence, mindsets, and skills to positively impact their personal journeys and their communities.

By providing a space for both students and teachers to collaborate on ways to continuously improve learning outcomes, we hope that students can feel more empowered to take lead on their academic journey and become part of the sustainable solution we are daring to provide

This is our annual spectacle, drawing students from all our partner schools at four different levels (Primary four, five six and seven) to partake in a spirited competition of the Staz games with the winning school taking home a trophy. A heartfelt congratulations to Coburwas Primary School, who lifted this year’s trophy while Planning for Tomorrow the defending champions came second.

Check out the video below highlighting what both the teachers and students had to say

Establishing&StrengtheningPartnerships

This year we added two new partnerships with Global Refugee Initiatives (GRI) and Con of the Lakes, U A

GRI which is a humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization with headquarters in Kampala, Uganda on a mission to increase access to education, health, justice, and economic opportunities to refugee communities in Uganda. Together we are working on a collaboration to make the 5 Staz educational game modules alongside programs like the Dice & Dream accessible to refugee children in Kiryandongo District in 2025

Con of the Lakes is a fundraising gaming convention based in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin Following My Home Stars’ participation over the past years, the convention decided to partner and collaborate with My Home Stars to raise funds for supporting our educational programs in Uganda The event was a great success with a big turnout We are so grateful to everyone that participated

Special thanks to Chris Brown, the founder and lead for Con of the Lakes who spent close to a year planning and preparing fundraising day itself

More than 14 of our teacher content developers worked hand in hand on revising and updating 12 modules of the 5 Staz (out of 16) This includes all our English, Intergrated Science and Social Studies across all the four class level (primary four to primary seven)

These updates were focused on ensuring that the content is not only current but also finding ways to improve its layout and how we deliver it to learners in the 5 Staz game packages The next step will be working on the actual production of the next sets of games with the updated content hopefully next year

This is a work in progress, but we are thrilled to share that in November, we secured 1 acre of land from the local leadership of Kyangwali Refugee Settlement Our long-term plans are to establish an operational hub for My Home Stars and our work Our vision has always been to create a safe and inspiring space where children can access quality education and academic support, nurturing their potential and paving the way for brighter futures More details coming in 2025
