EDITOR’s NOTE

Welcome to the first issue of FOM, I am completely obsessed by this magazine’s possibilities, what we can bring to you and how we can do it. I could take this opportunity to tell you what is in the magazine but I want you to discover FOM for yourself. When Peter Campbell came to me and said he wanted to create a magazine from scratch I was slightly crazed and over excited by everything I wanted to include, that the only way I could set a precedence for the magazine was to make sure that whatever I created it was 100% for the reader, and we had to decide who that person would be. Thankyou to my Mum, my best friends, my training partner & all the women in their lives who I harassed over coffee, over the phone, via email on the treadmill and randomly on the street. This is how I determined what we would create, and will continue to build, it was by first discovering You…

You are building an empire of your choosing You love your Lorna Jane and your Louboutins And you paid for them yourself You love tradition, but embrace technology Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter have their place So do framed photos and hand written letters You Love food You love exercise too You recognise that it’s all about balance You have found something to love more than love Something you pursue with passion and perseverance You are willing to wait for the one We would love to hear what you think about the magazine, what you would like us to include, and anything you are curious about.

grace

You are both idealistic and realistic Ambitious as you are sexy Strong willed as you are kind You are a mother, or maybe you’re not Your friends are your family You are exactly where you are meant to be right now.

FOM is for you, no matter your stage in life, no matter your dreams or ambitions.

While nothing is sure, everything is possible.

Break the rules – you should be aware of the ‘rules’ of racewear but don’t ever feel restricted by what you can wear. Kate Waterhouse and Lara Bingle frequently bend the rules and still maintain the elegance of racewear.

Spray tans can be a taboo around the racetrack – but I will say this – if you are going to get a spray tan opt for a green based tan in order to look as natural as possible.

When you speak to this extraordinarily beautiful model it’s hard to fathom that experience has endeared her with so much wisdom so early in life, yet it’s no wonder really when you take into account high profile campaigns, editorials, competitions, implied nudity at 16, overseas contracts, body image issues, plus size at size 10, media, pressure and homesickness.

Dear

14 year old ella, L

ike everything in life, you have to work hard to achieve anything. Modelling is the same. It is going to get tough and be hard at times but hang in there. It will all work out in the end. Modelling isn’t going to be easy. People are going to tell you time after time you’re not good enough. Don’t let the girls at school bring you down. Actually don’t let anyone bring you down! You have such a positive attitude towards life, keep it that way!

plus size, you my dear are a normal, healthy, happy size 10. Stay that way. Don’t change because people tell you that you need to look a certain way. You are beautiful just the way you are. It is going to take you a little while to feel comfortable with this new concept. But it will be the best thing for your career.

“A whole world is going to open up for you. A world you never knew existed.”

I feel as though I should warn you about the stab saga that will be coming your way. I wouldn’t say stay away from stab. I would just warn you that if you ever feel uncomfortable about anything just say something. Stick up for yourself. Protect your privacy and don’t feel obliged to do anything!

Something I should warn you about is your body. You’re built to be a lean, athletic, sporty woman who loves her food! You are not meant to be a coat-hanger, stick thin, bones-sticking out model. You have curves! Embrace and love every square inch of your body because you are unique and are much happier when you feel good about your body.

As I write this to you I am 19, living in London with the love of my life, happier than I have ever been. Not only with life but with my body as well. I know that when I eat healthily and stay away from the things I know that don’t agree with my body and when I exercise every day I feel bright and positive and so much better about myself!!

So on that note, stay true to who you are, not what you think you are meant to be. Yours forever,

ella

WORLD

Wanders ‌india Miss World Australia 2011 Amber Greasley is quite the traveller, competing for the international title in London last year and traveling for title commitments since. Upon handing over her crown last month Amber’s first port of call was India with Belluccio director Haroon Sufi, Amber shares with us her fashionable journey to this greatly underestimated country.

W

ith scenes from “Eat Pray Love” acting as my only point of reference for Indian culture, it’s safe to say that as the plane descended onto the runway, my expression (or lack thereof) can only be described as speechless. I was in New Delhi, India as the international brand ambassador for dress label Belluccio, the official designers for Miss World Australia. They had decided to act on their plans for world fashion domination and first we would take on the Indian market, but I soon learnt they had one other intention: To give me an incredible taste of the country, the culture and of course, the curry.

“An-bah” and repeatedly ordered the crowd to “Rock your bodies!” was cause for multiple laughs, incredible photographs and hilarious memories. As a girl who loves to cook, trialling Indian cuisine was high on my to-do list. As Belluccio have their own property in the suburb of Nizamuddin, approximately 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city, I was fortunate enough to eat truly authentic Indian food made by their chef, who was a mere 13 years old. I can safely say I consumed my weight in butter chicken and Naan bread and repaid the favour by teaching my Indian chef the concept of a salad. I was actually the first person to show him what a lettuce was. “It’s just like a green ball?” he said.

Whilst still attempting to tackle the terrors of jet lag, official duties beaconed and work began. I was at Pragati Maidan for Tex Trends I had visited Humayun’s tomb in the heart 2012, a trade show to exhibit Indian textiles of Delhi, where a snake charmer played his and apparel. Belluccio flute and lured not one, was showcasing their but two cobra snakes out collection and garment of a basket. If you’re ever lucky enough to visit (and I recommend you do), try and find a good bargain in a tour guide. They also clear the crowds so you can get a photo on the same seat that Princess Diana did! I received mixed reviews of India prior to my departure, many even told me not to bother going, but I am so grateful I did. Culture and cuisine aside, my favourite part of the entire experience would be the people.

The hospitality I received is something I cannot compare. Everywhere I visited I was greeted with flowers and kisses, songs and stories and of course, an array of questions about Australia and if I was used to the humidity yet, at which point they would immediately switch on their air conditioners. India was an incredible experience, but having only seen one city, another visit is definitely necessary and I cannot wait to go back! However I think I’ll be laying off the butter chicken for the meantime, for the sake of my waist line.

THE neon lightS a summer makeup story W

ithout knowing what was about to begin, Summer had agreed to go out. She was going to dress up and look amazing for no one but herself. It was the season named Summer and this was her time, her night. She was going to the newest, hottest club with her girls, and she was going to drink tequila sunrises and dance like she had never danced before. Listening to the cool sounds of Mat McHugh whilst sipping on a crisp, fresh Sauvignon Blanc; the warm Summer afternoon breeze began to make it’s way across the living room to her. Being sick of her old makeup routine and lack of colour, Summer was ready to experiment - neon pinks, purples, oranges and yellows. She couldn’t believe how these colours changed her. They made her feel alive, electrified, confident and happy. “Why have I waited so long?” she thought to herself. Summer had just been through a terrible breakup, was feeling “beige” and needed a serious lift. It was the beginning of summer (the season that is!) and the perfect time to experiment with colour and something fresh and new.

“They made her feel alive, electrified, confident and happy.”

Why only use colour in your outfit? Summer put on a gorgeous gunmetal grey figure hugging dress and some killer high heels.

She accessorised simply. “It’s time” she thought. Summer started with the perfect base. She used a beautiful light, matt foundation, concealed under her eyes and then lightly powdered to set. She used neon purple on her eyes lids in hope of making her beautiful brown eyes pop. It worked and looked amazing. Summer then thought of adding a pop of a different colour in the very centre of her lid. She used neon pink, blended it all over and then finished off the eyes with black eyeliner. She used a waterproof black liner on the top lid closest to the lashes and on the bottom water line. She then added a little neon purple underneath the eye, close to bottom lashes using a small, fine angled brush. Summer finished off the eyes with lashings of sexy, black mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

what your

eYEBROWs

NEED NOW

They frame your face and emphasise your beauty... Eye stylist to the stars Amy Jean Linnehan shows you how to make the most from your beautiful brows.

Amy Jean tips To wax or tweeze... Both! Waxing is important for de-fluffing your brows and creating a smooth, fuzz-free line. Tweezing is for a tweak here, a pluck there...putting the fin shing touches to your immaculate arches. You should book an appointment with a brow specialist because...Even if you’re loving the look of your brows and expert opinion and some guidance from a professional can’t hurt (and it’s amazing how much more fantastic your brows can end up looking)

“...choose your brow guru wisely!”

No two brows are alike... it’s fine to bring some inspiration to your brow artist but at the end of the day you have to be able to rely on their skill and experience to create a brow that suits your features. So choose your brow guru wisely! Right now the fashionable brow is... full, fluffy and lighter. Exaggerated arches have given way to flatter, straighter brows that create an elongated frame for the eyes. Brow lightening is popular because... lighter brows appear less harsh against most skin tones and have a naturally fuller, more lush appearance. Keep sharp objects away from your brows... Never use scissors to trim your arches. Trimming creates a blunt, coarse appearance and, as they regrow, individual hairs can start to coil and protrude against the line of the brow. Not a good look! Train your brows into the desired shape... Now you’ve stepped away from the scissors use a clear brow gel or putty to guide them into position. They’ll soon get the message. The next frontier for brow artistry is... ‘Feather-Touch’ eyebrow tattooing or embroidery. It’s the perfect technique or salvaging over-plucked or sparse eyebrows. The individual etched hair strokes give the eyebrow and realistic appearance that has changed some of my clients’ lives.

Oscar cULLINAN Director of Oscar Oscar Salons shares his summer hair care tips!

Oscar cULLINAN Coloured hair at the beach

The best way to keep your hair looking glamorous while on a beach holiday is to find your inner girl-scout and be prepared! Hair-care products that lock in colour are essential, such as Kerastase’s Reflection range, which locks in the colour pigment and reduces the colour fading as you swim and play in the sun.

Oscar cULLINAN Easy luxe resort hair style tips

While on holiday it’s great to give your hair a break from over-styling and instead embrace the natural body and texture of your hair. To achieve this try allowing your hair to air-dry, which will give your hair a natural bounce and then only straighten your mid-lengths and ends lightly with your GHD straightening iron. Finish your hair by adding a great glossing product for a luxurious shine and to tame any fly-away’s for a quick and easy care-free look perfect for lazy beach days, we love the Kerastase Elixir range for its lightweight shine!

Oscar cULLINAN Hair sunscreen — Why is it important?

Australians are now more sun smart with their skin than ever and the old saying of slip, slop, and slap is finally being listened to! However, people don’t realise that it is also important to protect your hair from UV rays. You can spend so much money on the perfect cut, colour and styling products but if you don’t protect your hair from harmful UV rays you will end up with dry, damaged hair, as well as colour fading.

Oscar cULLINAN

There are some great products on the market now

To protect your hair from UV rays, salt, and chlorine, so the next step in your sun care regime now needs to include your hair. Kerastase has just launched Soleil Huile Lactee, which is an easy to use lightweight, UV-defence spray hair veil that provides invisible protection from sun exposure, plus it helps minimise colour fading, damage and dryness, perfect for a day at the beach! Just remember to reapply protective hair products after swimming and just like any sunscreen we should start to add this to our daily sun care regime!

Pure raw cacao nibs for sprinkling! Simply whiz your walnuts in a food-processor until fine (about 1 minute) add pitted dates, salt & vanilla, whizzzz again until quite fine & starting to bind. Add cacao powder, one more whiz & you’re done! You want it the mixture to be slightly dough-like but still crumbly. Press into a glass storage dish & refrigerate! That’s it. If you’d like a chewier texture you can pop them into the freezer for a while before serving. Another nice touch would be to melt a little ‘creamed coconut’ & make white crosses on them especially for Easter, or even some desiccated coconut would do it. These delish raw brownies have the texture of a rich buttery brownie you’d expect to be very unhealthy only… IT’s SUPERFOOD! Love to hear how you go making this. Take I-phone pics & feel welcome to share them to my Chocolate Book Page : ) This recipe is just for you FASHION ONE READERS so you won’t find it in the book. Just an extra one I had lying around!

fitness A successful swimwear designer and PETA advocate, face of Bra’s N Things, with a body envied and worshipped by her tens of thousands of social media followers, we sat down with Sheridyn Fischer to find out how she manages to look the way she does, you may just be surprised by her answers.

Lets start with what everyone wants to know, how do you get a body like yours? What does a general weeks training look like for you? Monday: Bike Ride and Kickboxing training and finishing with some tabata, Tuesday: Kickboxing/fight training. Wednesday: Soccer game. Thursday: Kickboxing or TRX or Crossfit or a run. Off Saturday: Something light like a bike ride of run or swim. Sunday: Soccer game. I always mix things up. I just like to move my body! I am doing more acting now and lots of my own stunts and fight work so I love training for that. You spend a lot of time in lingerie and swimwear do you diet at all? No. I just eat healthily. I live a vegan lifestyle so I eat lots of greens and cook lots of healthy meals. I don’t like eating processed food, instead I keep it very natural. I love lentils and grains and salads and veggies. I eat lots of little meals and just try to be healthy. I do however have a naughty day each week. You are very passionate about being vegan why is this? I have been a vegetarian for a long time but made the choice to become vegan as I am very passionate about animals and there welfare. I love animals and I don’t want to eat them or see them hurt or killed because of me. Instead I try to encourage others to buy nonfactory farmed products and just be aware of how there food gets to there plate. It is a very scary process and one that breaks my heart.

The health benefits of being a vegetarian or vegan are always wonderful! My skin, hair and body just feels and looks better and I feel all-round better mentally and physically. Veganism is increasing in popularity for both health and conscientious reasons what are some of your favorite vegan meals? I adore rye toast with Avocado and squeezed lemon in the morning with some fresh tomato slices! I also love making veggie stiry frys with tofu and fresh juice. My partner Kyle makes the most delicious Pizza breads too! With chopped garlic and fresh basil, zucchini, onion, tomato and put it under the grill then sliced avocado on top! I also adore LENTIL SOUP! My mother in

law makes the best lentil soup and I am always getting her to make it for me. You have worked for some amazing labels, in the future if you could choose any brand to work with who would it be? I would love to work with sports brands like Nike and Adidas and fashion giant Myer, I also love Lorna Jane, True religion and Guess. What are three things you couldn’t live without? My Fiancé’ Kyle, or animals (Dogs Kendra and Predator, Ferret Tinkerbell, Bunny Schwarzenegger and bird Butch) and my family! You have incredible ambition and balance which is rare do you have a personal saying or mantra? Live and Love. Live life to the fullest and love everyone and everything. Put your energies to living your best life whilst helping others and focus on love not hate. You have such a beautiful positive disposition what do you credit your positive outlook too? My childhood and teenage years were very hard. I grew up without a father and I left home at 14 years old. I don’t have any relationship with my mother and my step father is my only family. My grandparents (who I adored more than anything) past away and it was very difficult for me. I miss them every day. I also had a horrible teenage relationship with an abusive partner and suffered depression for many years. It felt that there was no light at the end of the tunnel and that no matter what I did to try and change what was happening around me I couldn’t. I decided that it was up to me to change how I react to what is happening and start making positive changes in my life. I did not want to be depressed, I wanted to experience life and love.

I made a HUGE change and committed myself to becoming the person I wanted to be. I focused on the people I loved and who loved me, focused on the beauty that is life, and worked hard every day towards my dreams. I guess growing up nothing was ever given to me and having to grow up at such a young age has taught me to work hard, that nothing comes easy and that you really need to WORK towards your goals. “It is amazing what you can do with the power of YOU is my favourite saying, because it is up to you. My amazing partner Kyle has really helped me too and I just feel like a different person. I think all the negative has really helped me become positive and just to be so thankful and appreciate everything. I did not see it then but I do see it now and I believe everything happens for a reason.

lady FAcEBOOK Randi Zuckerberg talks Facebook, family and the future. By Grace May Cobb

I

n sitting down to dinner with Randi Zuckerberg I wasn’t sure what to expect. About Randi I knew only two things; Firstly she was the elder sister of the now infamous Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and secondly that she had been integral in the beginning and continued success of the social network that has changed everything. It’s fair to say I was blown away in meeting Randi. Despite spending the last decade in Silicon Valley surrounded by coders and engineers Randi is every inch the modern women in a floor length maxi dress, wanting to know where I had bought the blazer I was wearing and tell me all about her 18 month old son, a far cry from Mark who’s private life is relatively off limits and who recently admitted to owning up to 20 crew-neck shirts in the same grey colour. A bounding mass of brunette curls, and a beaming smile regardless of jetlag and unfamiliar surrounds. Entrepreneurism, family, friends, Facebook, Fame, politics nothing was off limits. Randi graduated from Harvard University in 2003, starting out in marketing in New York at a time where television campaigns were popular and she was placed in the rather less glamorous sector of internet marketing, something she now describes as “a blessing in disguise” at this time her brother Mark and his friends were starting Facebook out of their Harvard dorms, a project Randi would later work on for over six years.

“These guys were so creative, so passionate about what they were building, I completely fell for it” Facebook and the entrepreneurial atmosphere it provided were enough to hook Randi upon her visiting Silicon Valley. “These guys were so creative, so passionate about what they were building, I completely fell for it” says Randi.

At the time of her visit Facebook were looking for an internet marketer, she negotiated on the spot with her brother and began what she describes as “the crazy, incredible journey that was starting and working at Facebook”. Randi went on to work in Facebook’s Creative & Buzz Marketing, Political, and Social Change departments. It obvious that her experiences at Facebook along with the changes ushered in by social media and new technologies greatly influenced Randi’s path in life, both the good and the bad. In her reminiscing about the earlier days of Facebook Randi reflected upon when they first introduced the “newsfeed”. What the Facebook team assumed would be a “game changing” innovation that in reality users resisted and protested, both outside the Facebook offices and through Facebook itself. “We had created a site so viral that people were literally using it to protest us.” RZ In terms of revolutions you don’t find many organizations as ever evolving as Facebook, apparently this is the Facebook MO “Never just sit back and rest on the accomplishments of what you have done. Always be moving forward.” When asked whether an entrepreneurial gene runs in the family she replied, “ I think at least innovation always ran in our family because our father really valued that, I think maybe you have to have a crazy gene, more than an entrepreneur gene it’s more like an insanity maybe.” Evidently passionate about the digital revolution and is possibilities, Randi is equally passionate about protecting the future generations against cyber bullying, especially as it is now a generation her son will be a part of, her answer to dealing with the ‘trolls’ is absolving anonymity. “People behave a lot better when they have their real names down. … I think people hide behind anonymity and they feel like they can say whatever they want behind closed doors.”

With Australia currently searching for the best way to deal with the severe cases of online trolling and bullying throughout society, but notably aimed at our celebrities such as Charlotte Dawson and Robbie Farah perhaps Zuckerberg is on to something, with anonymity allowing the vicious hate campaigns of late to grow at speed with little consequence for the perpetrators. This is what makes Randi so unique she has the entrepreneurial Zuckerberg genius in a more relatable package, she is a mother, a business women and friend. With speaking commitments, a new company Zuckerberg Media and a reality TV show “Silicon Valley” to air on Bravo in America later in the year Randi Zuckerberg is officially blazing a trail entirely of her own.

“ We had created a site so viral that people were literally using it to protest us.” RZ
