4. Notify Your Raters
1. Draft a list of coworkers you would like to receive feedback from (Ensure you work closely enough that they each have an informed point of view on your leadership behavior)
2. Organize into “rater groups” (see list on following slide)
3. Discuss your list with your manager an align on the right mix of feedback providers
4. Enter raters on your LVI portal
5. Send all nominated raters a “heads up” (template provided on slide # and in the confirmation email you will receive after you submit your raters in the portal)
• Aim for 10-15 in total; for instance:
• Your Manager
• At least 4-5 Peers (ideally you work with closely)
• At least 4-5 Direct Report
• “Others” – this category is optional and could include other senior leaders, project teams, etc.
• Skip level reports, customers, and coworkers from prior jobs and organizations are NOT usually helpful for this kind of feedback
• Nonconfidential Groups: Above you (e.g., Manager)
• No minimum # of raters
• will be told their “feedback will not be anonymous”
• Confidential Groups: Same level or below you (e.g., Peers, Direct Reports)
• At least 3 completed surveys required;
• Will be told their “feedback will be anonymous”
It is courteous and helpful to send your raters a brief note saying that you are inviting them to participate, to expect an e-mail invitation with instructions from the survey administrator, and to thank them in advance. Below is some “generic” text for an advance notice message to your raters, which you can edit to make your note more personal.
Dear Colleague,
I am going through a feedback and development process and have nominated you to provide input. You will soon be receiving an e-mail with ""Feedback for [Insert Your Name]"" in the subject line from the LVI Administration Team inviting you to complete a leadership survey about me.
I know you are very busy. At the same time, I value your perspective and am asking for your participation in this important process. Please be candid when offering your feedback. Also, please be prompt in completing the feedback survey so that the people I'm working with can stay on their timeline. If you do not receive the e-mail invitation in the next few days, please search your spam filter or junk e-mail folder for LVIv5 Admin <360lvi@perfprog.com>. I also recommend you add this email address to your safe sender list.
Thanks in advance for your participation and thoughtful input.
