There are numerous kinds of flowers in the world, and these different kinds hold different meanings. However one thing is certain about flowers, which is the association of this to beauty and affection.

The Lotus flower is considered to be the most beautiful flower. In fact this flower blooms beautifully no matter how dirty the water is underneath. This represents the beauty within. The flower is held in high regards in a number of religion and cultures. Purity, rebirth and spiritual enlightenment are the characteristics associated with this beautiful flower.

LOTUS : The beauty within

The purpose of Miss Earth is to promote environmental preservation.

The lotus flower is a universal flower known for its beauty within adversity which is what beauty pageants are about since it tackles environmental issues and is an avenue to voice out and instill a positive change in the world. The design of the stage is inspired by the curves of the lotus flower which in art symbolizes feminity, purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration, and rebirth.

in ART DECO

Our generation today is very fond of reminiscing and bringing back the past. this cinema-theatre taquilla gives off a retro-old school vibe, with its art deco-inspired design, creating a visual that exudes a nostalgic vintage feel - entirely bringing you back to the past.

The initial shape is a pentagon, which is derived from the shape of the cinema-theater building. this was then extruded, to give it volume. art deco patterns were then incorporated to give it a more sophisticated and clean look to it.

Repetitive forms and shapes were also incorporated, which is one of the characteristics of an art deco design.

All of these incorporated, brought about a design that gives off a luxurious and nostalgic feel as it foreshadows the primary setting of how movie theaters were like in the past.

lights can be placed on the staggering roof to give it an extra exciting and brighter look.

Interweave is a cultural pavilion that showcases the highlights of the Philippines' tourism sector while at the same time educating the users how we are all interwoven with each other, and through the spirit of Bayanihan, we can be a catalyst of environmental protection and the progression of the country.

Cultivating the past and the future through the spirit of bayanihan..

Traditionally, bayanihan is the demonstration of lipat-bahay, where members of the community help a family relocate their nipa hut.

They do this without expecting anything in return. However, knowing how hospital Filipinos are, the owner will prepare a humble feast for everyone.

In the present, bayanihan in its literal sense is no longer commonly practiced unlike before since most of our houses are concrete. However, the term bayanihan is not limited to the act of lipat-bahay but it has become one of the enduring positive Filipino values that inspire the community to help fellow countrymen in times of need. It also means that we are mutually helping each other out.

With this sense, I wanted to integrate how we can help each other out as a community, as a country. I wanted to emphasize the spirit of bayanihan, and show how this culture would spark a shared vision to help the country have a brighter future.

3D PRINTED MATERIALS The outer shell, structural members, and interior walls of the structure are all made out of recycled plastic materials and built through 3D printing technology.

FACADE The facade imitates the form of Filipino indivuals performing the act of bayanihan / lipat bahay over their shoulders.

AMPHIBIOUS ARCHITECTURE Paying respect to the Filipino characteristic of being resilient even amidst calamity, the structure has an amphibious architecture style to it wherein it is able to float on the surface of rising floodwater rather than being inundated, especially in cases of flooding.

JUAN TAMAD'S TREE OF LIFE Inspired by the Philippine folklore character, Juan Tamad. The user's can lie down under the tree of life, each individual produces energy which is absorbed by the tree of life and turned into energy for the pavilion.

Just like Juan, each users wait for a fruit to drop. Each hologram fruit has an inspiring message addressed to him from another individual. This is important to overcome the barrier between people and build unexpected bridges, to maximize the synergy between the community.

TRANSPORTER Heavily inspired by the transporter in Star Trek, the transporter in the Interweave Pavilion can be utilized in two ways, either virtually connect people from other places as a hologram but still fully experience everything. Or in the other hand, take the people in the physical pavilion virtually to the Philippines for a short period of time as a hologram - for an additional cost, since is it as if the user is actually in the country itself.

ANTI-GRAVITY ELEVATOR Anti-gravity elevators of the future allow the users to efficiently go up and down the structure through the tube without needing any help from mechanical machinery, saving more space and time.

FLOATING LIVE BAND Karaoke is undoubtedly part of the Filipino culture. It is a favorite pastime for most Filipinos on normal days or even on special occasions. It is also said that Filipinos are known internationally to have better singing diction than most. To celebrate this, a floating stage for a live band is located near the dining area for the users to enjoy.

KAMAYAN OUTDOOR DINING EXPERIENCE Traditionally, the community does not expect anything in return when performing lipat Bahay.

However, considering how Filipinos are very hospitable, the owner prepares a humble feast for everyone.

This culture is reflected in the pavilion through the Kamayan dining area Where users experience eating over banana leaves, just like what Filipinos traditionally do, they even have the option to eat with their hands if they wish to encounter the overall Filipino dining experience. This intends to give thanks to the users for performing unity with each other for a successful outcome of the experience.

Aerohaptic hologram technology Contrary to the holodeck technology in StarTrek + the VR glasses we have in the present, aerohaptic hologram technology allows the users can see, feel, and share the experience with other people in the same room with them. The holograms are also fully interactive making it a more unique experience.

Even the floor has a hologram integrated to it as if the users are actually walking on real water or sand through sensorial technology.

MY REFLECTION

This semester has been a roller coaster ride of emotions, that had more lows than highs. The hardest part was trying to keep up with my academics and make plates while trying to cope with everything that was happening.

It was emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually draining.

However, I was still able to push through it all.

The most memorable part about my experience in Architecture Design 8 is that I got to explore new software that helped me a lot in portraying my thoughts and designs that were just initially in my head, into developed visual forms that others can appreciate and understand.

The softwares that I was able to learn was Twinmotion, Photoshop, and InDesign. I am still a beginner in all these software but I want to recognize myself and the hard work that I placed in order to learn them in such a limited time.

I can also see growth and improvement in how I design the exterior facade, especially on the most recent plate, the overall presentation of the boards, etc. I am thankful for the fact that I was able to slowly let go of the perfectionist side of me and let creativity steer the wheel for once.

Lastly, Architecture Design 8 made me realize that there is so much more to architecture and plates than planning spaces in the floorplan, and designing the exterior of structures. There are so many aspects that needs to be considered, and in order to have a beautiful building, one must incorporate all of these, rather than just focus on the visuals of it.
