AFRICAN LUXURY IN THE CITY
Somewhere in the heart of Nairobi, conveniently located just outside the Central Business District lies the iconic Sarova Panafric Hotel. The hotel which opened its doors in January 1965 was inaugurated the First President of Kenya, H. E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and in the spirit of bringing Africans together was aptly named PanAfric Hotel. 57 years on, The Sarova Panafric stands tall and strong as one of the oldest and most recognized properties in the Kenyan Capital. They say old is gold but new is diamond, and the refurbishment of this property is an embodiment of the continuous evolution of the City of Nairobi. By Leilah Namwezi.
In the height or the post-colonial era, The Sarova Panafric Hotel paid symbolic homage to Pan Africanism, a movement that created unity and liberalized the African people. Indeed, a number of executive suites are named after key heroes of this movement, including Kenya’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. In staying true to Sarova’s commitment to innovation while consistently delivering premium service, Panafric’s series of refurbishments have seen a complete overhaul of several guest rooms distributed throughout the property. The transformation features a combination of warm ambient lighting, eclectic artwork, stylish furniture, and a fluid use of colour that offers a sense of calm. Not forgetting installation of highend amenities that offer all the modern luxuries we have become so accustomed for absolute comfort, all the while without compromising on the original concept of celebrating Mother Africa and Her culture through tasteful decor and interior furnishings.
