-Christmassy Crafts for the Home and GardenFollow these simple instructions to create a couple of lovely items – ideal as thoughtful homemade gifts for friends and family or as extra touches to your own abode this festive season!

- Pine Cone Fire lighters -

- Birdseed decorations -

You will need: • Pine cones of various shapes and sizes • Tealight candles • Cupcake cases • Optional: candle scent/ essential oil

You will need: • ¾ cup of birdseed • Cookie cutters • Sachet of gelatine • ¼ cup of water

1 Lay out your cupcake cases on a tray.

1 Bring the water up to asimmer in a saucepan and stir in the gelatine until it all dissolves.

2 Remove the metal cases from your tealights and place the candles into the cupcake cases, ensuring the wicks are pointing upwards.

3 Place in the oven on a moderate heat until the wax is completely melted. At this point you can add your essential oils if you wish (we recommend pine!).

4 Remove from the oven and carefully push your pine cones into the melted wax, ensuring the wick comes out to the side.

5 Leave the wax to set around the pine cone at room temperature.

6 Peel the cupcake case off the wax and TADA! you have a beautiful scented fire lighter.

2 Remove from the heat and stir in the birdseed until it is all well coated.

3 Pour the seed mixture into cookie cutters, pressing down to ensure they are compact.

4 Push a straw through each decoration to create a hole.

5 Leave to set for 12 hours.

6 Push the shaped seed decoration from the cookie cutter (carefully!) and pull the ribbon through the hole so that you can hang it in your home or garden (the birds will love you for it).
