BRADBUR N B RIEF Dear Sandy Resident, Summer 2021 is already looking up! Food trucks and concerts are back at the Sandy Amphitheater. The 4th of July celebration and Balloon Fest are moving forward. The REAL Soccer season is off to a strong start and e-scooters are zipping around the Cairns District. A few safety reminders about the e-scooters, you must be 16 to ride the scooters and helmets are strongly encouraged. With the low snow pack this winter, we may be facing the worst drought in 30 years. We can all do our part to conserve water. Check out conservewater.utah.gov for watering schedules each week. Sandy City provides a free in-person water sprinkler system audit through Utah State to cut down on waste and overwatering for your specific yard. Take a trip down to Sego Lily Gardens to learn about water-wise landscaping for your yard. Sign up for Sandy City’s Water Watch Smart software to get alerts if you have a leak or forgot to turn off a faucet. As Utah experiences warmer and warmer winters, we will all need to change our habits to ensure we are preserving our most precious resource. Droughts mean increased fire dangers. As you celebrate the holidays this month, please remember fireworks are not allowed in certain parts of the city. You can find the map of where fireworks are allowed at sandy.utah.gov. Many residents mistakenly believe that in a drought, they should not water their lawns at all. Please water wisely and do not allow your lawn to die and dry up. Dried grass and weeds present an extreme fire hazard. Lastly, please remember that you can always connect with us to get more information by going to our City websites sandy.utah. gov and SandyNow.com and by accessing our social media channels Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, (@SandyCityUT) and YouTube (/ SandyCityUT) for daily updated information. You can also contact me at mayor@sandy.utah.gov. Thank you for allowing me to serve you! Mayor Kurt Bradburn I S S U E # 83
