THE ROOF OF A HOME ON SUMMERWOOD DRIVE in Bountiful is engulfed in flames.

By Becky Ginos becky.g@davisjournal.com BOUNTIFUL—Friends, neighbors and even strangers pulled together over the weekend to help the family of a devastating house fire last Saturday night with clothes, food and shelter. “It’s amazing to see the community step up without being asked,” said neighbor Andrew Eberhardt. “Jeremy and Hollie Wardle are amazing peo-

ple.” Jeremy has done different things in his career and at one time he was a contractor, said Eberhardt. “His father helped him build that home. To watch the home you live in burn is hard enough but the one you built too?” They’re a huge part of the neighborhood, he said. “They have seven kids and two are married. They were both living with them temporarily. One of them had a baby just two weeks ago

so there was a newborn in the house.” A stranger knocked on the door to let them know there was smoke coming out of the chimney area, Eberhardt said. “He also knocked on three other doors around them. He was just a man in a suit, no one knew him. They literally had minutes to grab what they could. They were standing barefoot on the street watching their house burn Please see FIRE pg. 2

armington High graduated several seniors, including state placers Mason Draxler and Teal Edholm, and are reloading with “a bunch of good freshman to help fill in the gaps,” according to head coach Stacy Edholm, along with 2023 state qualifiers Brooke Belnap, Cannon Christensen, Ezra Moon, Will Scott and London Spears. “We’re right on track for a really good season,” coach Edholm said. “We want to get a region title one of these years, which is tough with Davis being such a powerhouse. But, these kids are gung-ho and motivated.” The Phoenix squad has been using the pre-season to increase their yardage, work on technique, be in the weight room and prepare for all of the events, according to coach Edholm. Farmington will be captained by Moon, Parker Brough, Henry Norseth, Michael Treu and Nerys Turnbaugh and also led in the pool by Belnap and Davis Nielson. Farmington began the season against Layton and Viewmont Nov. 3, winning overall with the boys dominating their side by almost 300 points. The boys squad was led by Christensen with a first place finish in the 500 free, a third-place showing in the 200 Individual Medley and swimming a leg on the third-place medley (B) relay and the third-place 400 free relay teams. Freshman Elsie Crowell won the 100 backstroke event while also taking third in the 200 IM and swimming legs on the third-place 200 medley relay and third-place 200 free relay squads. “We had a great first meet with a lot of new swimmers that really did a great job racing for the first time,” said Edholm. “We have a lot of talent this year coming from our freshman, with Jack Smart, Owen Vanskiver and Elsie Crowell leading the way. I am very excited to see how the team will blossom over the next few meets.” Other top placers for the Phoenix team were Jacie Nielson (second, 400 free relay; third, 200 free; third, 200 medley relay; third, 200 free relay), Scott (second, 200 free; second, 100 free; third, 200 free relay), Clarke Tholl (second, 100 breaststroke; second, medley A relay; third, 50 free), Turnbaugh (second, 100 free; second, 400 free relay; third, 200 free relay), Heidi Holbrook (second, 400 free
