Jordan is from Burley, Idaho. He has lived in Utah for 3 years. He comes to Draper City from Springville Recreation and the Salt Lake City Stars (Utah Jazz G-League). While working for the City of Springville Recreation Department he was able to exercise his skills and continue to build his education in the recreation field. He graduated from Burley High School and receive his Bachelorâ€™s of Science degree in Sports Management from Idaho State University. During his time at Idaho State, he was able to work for the Intramural program as supervisor. He enjoys participating in all sports and especially basketball. He loves the outdoors and has grown to love the mountains of Utah. We are confident that he can serve the residents of the City of Draper and be an asset for the Recreation Department. We are excited to add Jordan to our awesome Recreation Department!

1. Sportsmanship and respect are mandatory in all programs. Participants, coaches, spectators, etc. may be ejected at any time without prior warning if deemed necessary.

Youth are grouped on teams according to Canyons School District elementary school boundaries, charter school, or other school choice if possible, however, requests are not guaranteed. 5. Special requests including friend, coach, team, and school choice will not be accepted after the registration deadline. 6. All fees will increase by $10 during the late registration period after the regular registration has ended.
2. The use of alcohol or tobacco while participating in a Draper Recreation program is not allowed. Alcohol is not allowed to be consumed on City Parks. 3. The Recreation Department will form teams based on individual registrations to the best of their ability. All considerations will be taken into account but not guaranteed. 4. In youth programs, players must enroll in their current grade & play in that league. Advanced players may play “up” one grade level with authorization. 5. For adult programs, all participants must be 16 years old or older. 6. Participants are encouraged to have their own insurance policy. Draper City is not liable for injury or “Acts of God”. All parking is “park at own risk”. 7. All dates and times are subject to change. 8. Call the “rain-out” hotline for information after 4:00 p.m. to see if games are being played. (801-576-6570, option 3) 9. All fields/facilities used for private use need to be scheduled through Draper Parks & Recreation and all fees need to be paid in advance. 10. The Draper Parks & Recreation staff has final authority in all situations and circumstances. 11. All volunteers including youth coaches, program volunteers, committee members, parks & recreation staff, instructors, etc. are required to submit a Criminal History Background Check. This is done for the security and safety of our residents and participants.
REFUND POLICIES: 12. If Draper City, its agents, coaches, volunteers, parks & recreation staff, or parents or legal guardians suspect a youth athlete has sustained a concussion or traumatic head injury while participating in a sporting event, the athlete shall be removed immediately. Upon removal of an athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion or a traumatic head injury, a written clearance from a qualified health care provider is required before the athlete can return to participate in any sporting events.
Registration periods for various programs will be established by Draper Parks & Recreation. 1. A registration form must be completely filled out and signed by a custodial parent/guardian. 2. All fees must be paid in full at time of registration. 3. Online registration is available for individual registration. Those wishing to request players on the same team must register in person at the Draper Parks & Recreation office with all registration forms together. Registrations with 4 or more player requests must provide a volunteer
• A minimum of a $10 bookkeeping fee is non-refundable for each program/registration. • Refund requests made before the registration period/deadline has ended will receive a full refund minus the $10 bookkeeping fee. • After the registration period/deadline has ended, a refund of 50% of program fee will be offered. • No refunds will be offered once the program has started, beginning with the first class, first lesson, coaches meeting, etc.

Evil Scientist summer camps 2019 New camps for this summer! WHAT: Your kids will love these Science Camps! Our certified “Evil Scientist” instructor has lots of fun things to show and teach kids during the summer to keep them active and learning. Three, fun, four day camps where kids learn, over the summer, about various elements of science in a fun way with lots of cool tests, experiments, and explosions! Mountain Biking 2019 WHAT: Join us for great adventures in Youth Mountain Biking. With our certified Mountain Biking Instructors, participants will learn the basics and rules of mountain biking as they enjoy our great Corner Canyon trails. Sign up early to secure your spot. Tennis Lessons 2019 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: LITTLE STARS: Red Ball-Ages 4-6 beginner. Focus will be on hand/eye coordination and stroke development. Teaching good sportsmanship while having lots of fun! NEW STARS: Orange Ball-True beginner level player between the ages 7-11. Introduction to tennis. First time students to our program. GOLD STARS: Orange Ball-Returning students from previous years’ ages 7-11. Review strokes and techniques. We will begin to rally and play points. SHOOTIN’ STARS: Orange and Green Dot Balls-Higher level beginners to intermediate players between the ages 6-12. Have attended classes in previous years or parents feel they have the ability to pick up quickly and are ready to rally and play out points. Students can handle longer class times. FLIGHT I: Varsity or highly proficient. Can rally, keep score, and starting to play tournaments. Ages 12-18. WHAT: Tennis for youth has been a huge success each year. Penny, Binh and Riley, as well as their staff, are excellent and are USPTA/USPTR certified teaching professionals. Together they have taught at Gold’s Gym, Sportsmall, Alta Canyon, and South Jordan Center. They are focused on building a foundation of fundamentals for all levels. They bring their cutting edge teaching style obtained by continuous certification and education through USPTA. Youth classes will also be taught by Riley who is great with kids and is working on finishing his certification. Steep Mountain Dr. (15035 S.)) in Draper. REGISTRATION: Starts March 13, 2019 (Classes fill up quickly, register early!) There are several sessions available during the summer. Each session runs for 2 weeks with classes twice a week (4 per session). Session days will be Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Maximum of 12 per class and a strict 6:1 student/Pro ratio. Many kids will continue all summer in various sessions. This is great! Some may stay in the same level all summer while some may advance and move up a level into summer after practicing. WHAT TO BRING: Lightweight clothing, sunscreen, hat, non-marking shoes, filled water bottle, and your own tennis racket. The instructors reserve the right to move participants up/down as needed to fit their skill level and for the benefit of the participant and the whole class.

This type of play is best for recreational leagues by providing more playing time, more “touches” on the ball, more shots, more scoring, better passing, more development opportunities, more “one on one” time with coach, better utilization of fields, more opportunity for exercise, etc.
Flag Football 2019 WHAT: This is a high energy, high participation league for boys and girls. A fast action game that lets everyone throw, everyone run and catch, and play defense. Six on six non-contact flag football on shorter fields. Emphasis is on fundamentals, learning, meeting friends, and fun! WHO: Boys and girls in 1st - 6th grade (2019/2020 school year) WHEN: Games start August 26 and 28, 2019. The coaches meeting will be held on August 19, 2019. TIMES: 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., rotating times. WHERE: Galena Hills Park (12500 S. WHO: Kindergarten - 8th graders (2019/2020 school year) WHEN: The first four Tuesdays in October 2018 (1st, 8th, 15th, & 22nd) TIMES: Kindergarten - 3rd grade from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and 4th - 8th grade from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. WHERE: Corner Canyon High School Wrestling Room (12943 S. 700 E. in Draper) COST: $45 per participant (includes program shirt) REGISTRATION: August 1, 2018 - September 27, 2018 FOCUS WILL BE ON THE FOLLOWING: Fundamentals, balance, agility, body control, basic stance, rules, holds/techniques, and most importantly, having FUN in wrestling and making new friends and getting to know the coaches. Competing in wrestling can promote a higher level of self-confidence, discipline, concentration, and coordination. Wrestling is a great program for those wishing to build strength, endurance, and balance even for other sports. Two sport athletes are always encouraged!

Jr. Jazz Basketball 2019 WHO: Boys currently in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade and girls currently in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade (2019/2020 school year). WHEN: The coaches meeting for Kindergarten through 8th grade will be held November 18, 2019 with games beginning December 7, 2019 for 3rd-8th grade and the week of December 2, 2019 for Kindergarten-2nd grade. The coaches meeting for the 9th through 12th grade leagues will be held December 18, 2019 with games beginning January 7, 2020 for 11th-12th grade and January 8, 2020 for 9th-10 grade. PLAY TIMES: • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday play times will rotate: 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. • Saturday play times will rotate: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. COST: • Kindergarten (coach taught/refereed) = $57 • 1st - 4th Grade = $61 • 5th - 8th Grade = $67 • 9th - 12th Grade = $69 *A $10 late fee per participant will be charged on all registrations received after deadline dates and times, if space allows. Draper Parks & Recreation is offering the Draper Days Celebration 7th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. WHO: Open league to anyone 16 years & older WHEN: July 13, 2019 TIME: Starts at 8:00 a.m. WHERE: Draper City Park Courts (12500 S. 1300 E.) COST: $45 per team. INCLUDES: Shirts; pre-register by June 22, 2019 to guarantee shirts. REGISTRATION: May 1, 2019 - June 28, 2019 (or until full) Pre-registration is preferred; to pre-register, go online. WHAT: Now here’s a bike race for the little guys! Join us for the Draper Parks & Recreation Strider Bike Race and watch your child compete on his/ her no-pedal balance bike. Children of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Designed to let young kids ages 2 to 5 years old explore the world on two wheels and participate in some friendly competitive riding. ADULT SUMMER AND FALL PROGRAMS
Mountain Biking Class 2019 WHAT: This class offered by Draper Parks & Recreation will be designed specifically for adult riders! Ever wanted to get into mountain biking after living in Draper but didn’t feel you had the skill or knowledge? This class is for you! It will be a great course for beginners. Instructor are certified and very experienced in teaching MTB skills. This is a great opportunity for adults in our community to learn MTB skills in an adult setting and begin their journey on some of the best trails in the nation right here in Draper, Utah! Great exercise and great company. Come exercise while you learn more about mountain biking including: climbing and downhill technique, pedaling, braking, obstacle, tips and tricks, etc. Come enjoy our beautiful outdoors and our awesome trails. 6:1 rider: instructor ratio. WHO: Adults, 18 years old and older We will be offering 2 sessions; 3 day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) sessions, 2 hours each. SESSIONS: Session 1 June 17, 18, 19 6:00pm-8:00pm Session 2 July 15, 16, 17 6:00pm-8:00pm Both classes will include instruction on mountain bike fundamentals, basic trail side repairs, mountain bike awareness (including etiquette and nutrition). We will ride the pump tracks and short trail rides for the duration of the class.

Tennis Lessons & Workouts 2019 WHAT: Adult tennis lessons and tennis workouts will be available again this early spring, summer, and fall. The "punch pass" method allows adults to attend lessons at their leisure and to fit their schedule without the risk of conflicts. Instructors are USPTA certified and are excellent teachers! Beginner and intermediate classes available for men and women. With Penny Clinger, Director of Tennis, and Binh Huynh, Head Pro, we will have some of the most sought out tennis instructors in the state. Both are USPTA/USPTR certified teaching professionals. Together they have taught at Gold’s Gym, Sportsmall, Alta Canyon, and South Jordan Center. They are focused on building a foundation of fundamentals for all levels. They bring their cutting edge teaching style obtained by continuous certification and education through USPTA. REGISTRATION: March 1, 2018 and on-going through September 2018 Payment is not allowed to be taken on site at the courts. Lessons must be purchased in advance from Draper Parks & Recreation. Take your receipt to the tennis courts to receive your punch pass. Please note you are purchasing a punch pass that is good for either one, four, or eight lessons. Each time you choose to attend an adult lesson, one of the lessons you have paid for will be taken off. Please know it is each player’s responsibility to call the tennis instructor (Penny Clinger) prior to attending the lesson of your choice. Fall Adult Co-Ed Volleyball 2019 WHAT: After much demand, Draper City is proud to announce we will be adding Adult Volleyball to our lineup. Volleyball is a great sport for people of all ages. It is a high-energy game, which allows adults to recreate, get some exercise, socialize, and have fun. Great for businesses, clubs, church groups, etc. If you are a “win at all costs” player, this league is not for you, but if you like to compete and have fun doing it, you will not be disappointed! WHO: Men and women age 16 years and older WHEN: Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning October 8, 2019. Double elimination tournament will be held November 5, 2019. It is part tennis, part badminton, part ping-pong, and a ton of fun! It is great for all ages, from children to seniors. WHERE: Southfork Park Pickleball Courts, 14125 S. Winter Snowshoe & Hiking Class WHAT: Don’t let winter get you down. Escape the inversion and gray skies and join other Draper residents on a winter hike. Starting in January, Draper City Recreation will be providing a winter hiking and snowshoe program on Draper’s own extensive trail system. Come enjoy a guided winter adventure with other outdoor enthusiasts. This four week program will feature a new trail every week to introduce the winter recreation opportunities right out your back door! Snowshoes and poles will be provided along with information from your guide on the area’s history, flora, and fauna. Sign up soon as the class will fill up fast! The trails we will be using will be within the Protected Watershed Area. Please leave your dog at home.

Children’s Bike Parade This is one of the most beloved, fun, and colorful events of Draper Days. Children love to decorate their bikes and parade them around the park. After the parade, enjoy FREE musical entertainment, blow-up attractions and games at Bellevue Park. Bikes, skateboards, scooters, wagons, wheelchairs, roller-skates...all are welcome! Pavilions, Playing Fields & Facilities Draper City is proud of its many parks and their diversity. Some park fields and pavilions are able to be reserved. We have over 35 parks in Draper City. Many of these are “neighborhood” or “pocket” parks in various subdivisions. They are all public parks, however, please keep in mind that there are no restrooms, limited parking in residential areas, and limited space. These parks are for recreation and leisure play. Private/ competition sport teams should not schedule routine practices at these parks. We appreciate your help. Please call (801) 576-6570 with any questions regarding reservations or (801) 5766571 with any maintenance concerns.
TO MAKE RESERVATIONS: • Reservations may be done in person at the Parks & Recreation office located at 1020 E. Pioneer Rd., bottom floor or online at www.draper.ut.us/recreation • Reservations for outdoor and indoor pavilions can be made up to 12 months in advance. Reservations for fields can be requested beginning January 1st and will be awarded by the end of February each year. Various factors, needs, availability, etc. factor into field reservations. • All reservation agreements, paperwork, and fees must be completed to finalize reservations.
DAY BARN INDOOR PAVILION • A great facility to host a gathering, party, wedding, dinner, etc. This is an original dairy barn from Draper that has been relocated to Draper Park and refurbished to make a beautiful indoor pavilion. • Rental blacks are 9am-3pm or 4pm-10pm (M-Th) or 9am-10pm (F-Su) • $175 Draper resident/business or $225 non-Draper resident/business per block (M-Th) • $400 Draper resident/business or $500 non-Draper resident/business for all day (F-Su) • $200 refundable cleaning/security deposit required. Will be refunded if left clean and no damages. • Cancellations/changes must be made 45 calendar days prior to reservation for a 50% refund. FIELD RESERVATIONS • Can only be made if a playing field is available and playable. All Draper City programs and events and its affiliates take priority concerning field use. Reservations must be made in person. • $15 per hour per field for Draper resident or $20 per hour per field for non-Draper resident • Other conditions apply to ensure fair and equal use.
