NEW RAMP BRIDGE TAKING SHAPE FOR WEST DAVIS CORRIDOR

By Becky Ginos becky.g@davisjournal.com FARMINGTON—Drivers experienced some lane closures last weekend near Farmington as crews did some temporary repaving and a traffic shift as part of UDOT’s West Davis Highway project, where they are also constructing a ramp bridge to connect I-15 with the future highway. “We’re putting up MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) walls that are light weight concrete,” said UDOT West Davis Highway Project Director Rex Harris on Friday. “We’re working on the first column at the northbound off ramp of the bridge that will go over I-15, the Union Pacific Railroad, FrontRunner and Legacy Highway.” That is a major milestone, he said. “We’re shifting traffic to an east configuration. We’re doing some concrete grinding to the east and overlaying asphalt over the old concrete that will
be the surface for the next project.” The project is anticipated to be completed in 2023. “It’s been a twoyear process,” said Harris. “It’s been eight years since we started the envi-
