It’s a required federal mandate.” It was a long process, he said. “We looked at the environmental impact, right of way and talked to local
government, cities and counties, residents, commuters, school districts and businesses. It wasn’t final until we got permission from the federal government. We got started with construction in May 2021.” The $740 million corridor runs from Legacy at Glovers Lane in Farmington north to State Route 193 in West Point. “There will be separate interchanges at Legacy Parkway at the I-15 junction in Farmington, 950 North in Farmington, 200 North in Kaysville, 2700 West in Layton and 2000 West in Syracuse,” Shaw said. “The extension includes 10 miles of new trail that connects to the Immigration trail and the existing Legacy Parkway trail.” Updates on the current projects include:
Bluff Road (Syracuse) • Sewer line installation has begun along Bluff Road, with crews working southward from 3000 West. • To accommodate this work, Bluff Road is closed to through-traffic between Antelope Drive and 3000 West until Sunday, Feb. 6. Access will be maintained for residents traveling northbound from Antelope Drive. • UDOT and Syracuse City will continue to coordinate on plowing and salting efforts.
