ith a turnout of just under 31 percent of registered voters, Davis County’s municipal elections brought plenty of change on Tuesday. Final totals and certification of the votes will come in mid-November, but for the most part, the results are in. There will be new mayors in Bountiful, Farmington, Kaysville,
North Salt Lake and Woods Cross. Only one of those races involved an incumbent – in Bountiful. Incumbent mayors were re-elected in Centerville, Fruit Heights and West Bountiful. Two voter initiatives also passed. In Centerville, voters approved issuance of a $7 million general obligation bond for construction of a second cemetery, and voters in Kaysville approved a RAMP tax for recreation, arts, museums and parks. FARMINGTON—The Davis County Attorney’s Office announced on Monday, the creation of a new Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU) whose purpose is to review and investigate post-conviction claims of innocence. “The legislature passed a statute in May 2020 that authorized how it would happen and how we could use it so we worked to implement it,” said Davis County Attorney, Troy Rawlings. “It’s another layer of review. The impact of a conviction can be significant.
