One of the things I strive to ensure is that any screen time my son enjoys is balanced by “off-line” time, during which children develop their vital creative thinking skills. It was with this goal in mind that I set out to create a story that would help my own son learn to use his imagination, and My Blank Page was born.
The benefits of imaginative play are substantial, with leading experts associating such experiences with the development of social, emotional, language, and critical thinking skills. Some of my fondest childhood memories center on the imaginative play I engaged in, both on my own and with parents, brothers, sisters, and friends. I strongly believe that I developed important skills during these times that aid me in my personal and professional lives.
I hope that this story, of a young boy who taps into the power of his imagination to turn a boring day into an exciting adventure, brings your family joy and helps your children use their imaginations to create unforgettable experiences.

All I had was a blank piece of paper and I was completely bored.
So I closed my eyes and thought until
With a few twists and turns, I was filled with hope. For in my hand was a telescope!
In the distance, a pirate ship came into sight. I quickly drew my sword and
But the pirates were friendly and welcomed me into their crew. They were on a special mission and needed a clue.
They wanted a treasure map to guide them to hidden riches. But the gold they were after was guarded by witches.
I quickly drew an where the treasure could be found.
The route offered safe passage through paths underground.
Soon we were digging a hole, but I sensed the witches were near.
I
used a megaphone and warned,
We scared the witches off thanks to my trusty sword.
Now it was time to rejoice and enjoy our reward.
The treasure chest was opened and what did we find?
Everyone cheered aloud. The art would bring riches and fame. Their pirate lives would never be the same.
They presented me with a gift—
I thanked them and decided I’d better head back.
The sun was setting and my adventures had been so much fun. I decided to write about all that I had done.
My imagination had completely changed my day and I would never look at a piece of paper in quite the same way.
