The Colorado Black Beauty & Entrepreneur Facebook Page & Group was established in 2016. The group was originally established as a networking group for Colorado hairstylists and barbers. The founder of the group, DJ Washington, was an established stylist in the Colorado Springs area. Colorado stylists would promote on Craigslist and other social media outlets throughout the years, but potential clients new to the area would still have problems finding minority stylists and barbers. With the advice and support of her husband, who passed away in 2017, DJ Washington started the group. It watched it go from a hair group to one of the largest Facebook networking pages for African Americans Businesses in Colorado. The group strives to support, educate and promote minority businesses in Colorado. As the page continues to grow, the standards on which professionals promote themselves have grown as well. The page has reached people’s attention from every walk of life and also helps those who need mentorship in the betterment of small businesses in the Colorado African American Community. Every type of business in the African American Colorado community is on this page and welcomes anyone to promote, ask questions, and leave respectable comments. With so much division in the African American community, it is always a plus to have a positive outlet to express OUR creativity.
