Ayam Penyet Ayam Penyet is a traditional Indonesian cuisine originating from Surabaya. It is a popular chicken dish, where the fresh chicken is specially marinated with various spices and herbs . A Small Slice Of America

BY YAMUNA MARIADOS WHAT IT IS Tony Roma’s is an all-American restaurant that’s open its doors to Yangon.

Located amidst other well-known eateries along Sayar San Road, it is designed to look just like all the other Tony Roma’s around the world.

ATMOSPHERE The first thing that catches your attention is the stylish bar on the first level. The upstairs decor is easy on the eye, with light yellow walls and dark timbre interior decoration. There are private rooms for groups of between 8-10 people. A good place for casual dining, or even office meetings.

RECOMMENDATIONS We started off the evening with a Classic Romarita (6,500 Ks) and Grand Romarita (6,500 Ks), which was absolutely refreshing and a taste sensation! That was followed by the Southwestern Chicken (14,000 Ks) that tasted slightly salty at first but the taste grows on you. The chicken was topped off with Montery Jack, Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, diced tomatoes and green onions, it’s simply divine. We of course had to try their world famous baby back ribs next, so we had the Filet Medallions & Half Rack of Baby Backs (28,500 Ks), the chef sent perfect medium rare Filet Medallions just as we had requested, it was both juicy and delicious. The rack of baby backs were delectable, and the meat tender.

The desserts were somewhat of a letdown to an otherwise great evening.

We had the Dessert Trio (8,500 Ks) – which allows you to choose any three desserts from the menu. They assured us that they were doing their best to improve on the desserts.

FINAL THOUGHTS Definitely going back to try their set lunch specials and the Romaritas.

The food portions are on the big side, so it’s a good idea to share. Overall, the service was excellent, the food was scrumptious, the atmosphere was good –Tony Roma’s makes it mark on the Yangon food scene.
