SEEDS Lunch Menu: Treat Yourself an Exquisite Lunch

BY SOFIA RAINERI SEEDS has now officially opened its doors, so why not treat yourself to an exquisite and affordable weekend lunch.

This is the first time I come to SEEDS and the first thought that comes to mind is how beautiful and bright it is. I am greeted by smiling staff, I already feel relaxed. The view of Inya Lake is lovely, even though it is a rainy day.

The space has been meticulously thought out and constructed, modern and sleek whilst maintaining touches of Myanmar. The two styles complement each other, and it’s wonderful.

Their lunch menu changes daily depending on the availability of the ingredients to ensure everything is always fresh. The Business lunch is 19 USD for two courses and 25 USD for three, SEEDS has an extensive wine list amongst other drinks. My guest and I decided to try a bit of everything and shared our lunch.

The amuse bouche was a composition of creamy tomato and lobster soup, pasta and vegetables. The creamy soup was my favourite as the lobster flavour came through, the sweetness heightened by the tomatoes.

Of the two starters, the one that stood out the most was the Foamy Pumpkin Soup with Eggplant Cannelloni. A light soup packed full of flavour, poured over a dainty cannelloni. And although the Seared Tuna (with papaya salad) itself had the perfect texture.

For mains, I enjoyed the Homemade Tortellini with Truffle Foam (asparagus and sundried tomatoes), I loved the truffle foam and the tomatoes were delectable, the pasta of the tortellini was light and thin. We also had the Beef Cubes with Curry Sauce ( and Shan potatoes), the beef was perfectly cooked and tender, and the curry sauce was not overpowering.

The dessert, Melon Salad with Yoghurt Ice cream (and meringues), was the perfect palate cleanser, tangy and fresh. All the dishes were beautifully presented, and were a treat to the eyes. The lunch was satisfying but light, even though we had three courses. The coffee was accompanied by a plate of delightful assorted chocolates, which were a delicious end to the meal.

I left SEEDS content and rested, I am looking forward to coming back after the rainy season to enjoy some of their cocktails in their wonderful garden.

Dog Cafe: The Tiny Little Bomb of Love

BY THIRI T. OO The cozy, garden themed café is filled with soft natural light. Inside is decorated with a comfortable pillow filled swing, lampposts, colorful balloons, benches for talks, and cute chairs and tables. You can feel the grass below your feet, as if you were in a garden.

Aside from its sweet decorations, the eye-candies of this café are definitely Cupcakes and Albee. They are 3 years old, and 4 months old respectively and these adorable puppies are the most frequent guest of this café.

Unlike a lot of cafés, Freedom Café allows you to bring your pets, and also have a gathering with other pet owners. One has to reserve before bringing their pets on weekends because it can real get crowded. Freedom Café allows for 10 dogs to visit in a session; there are two sessions on Saturday and Sunday: 1-3PM, and 4-6 PM. I was recommended to try the signature Roasted Chicken with Rice (3,500MMK). The chicken was definitely tender and chewy, and was marinated well. However, I thought the rice was not my cup of tea, but it would be perfect to those who like a rougher texture.

The drinks menu has a variety of yummy smoothies such as the Infinity Beauty Collagen (2,500MMK), Goddess Matcha Soya (3,000MMK), and Be My Valentine (2,500MMK), Fairy Tales Garden (3,000MMK), Marry Me (3,000MMK), Endless Healthy Gift (3,000MMK) and more.

I would highly recommend this vintage mini garden café because of its beautiful décor, sweet pets, and energizing drinks, and it’s just overall such a lovable café! I will visit this place again, maybe with my mom or aunt for a smoothie date. Ha-ha.
