Birthdays are a time to celebrate all of the milestones of the previous year and the promise of the future. On July 25, 2019, Army Community Service (ACS) will celebrate 54 years of strengthening Military Service Members and their Families and providing real life solutions for effective Army living! It is no secret that healthy families make for mission ready Soldiers and units. This year, ACS continues to provide support to our Military Community here in U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii. ACS is truly a central hub of information and resources as well as a place to call home here on Oahu. Military life is rewarding, but can be challenging. The Family Advocacy Program offers a variety of prevention and support services including the New Parent Support Program, Prevention and Education and a team of victim advocates. Victim advocates are available 24/7 at 624-7233 to answer questions about family dynamics or provide support to victims. Additionally, the Family Advocacy Program has an array of healthy living classes such as Newborn Care Class, Anger & Conflict Solutions, Stress Solutions, Play Mornings, Parenting 101, and the “It Takes Two” couple’s class.

A decision regarding your child’s education is not an easy decision, especially with an Exceptional Family Member (EFM). Your EFM may require an Individual Education Plan (IEP) which follows him / her to every school. Navigating a school system you know very little about, can be overwhelming. The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) System Navigators can guide you through the process and be your support system every step of the way. They always have your child’s best interest in mind and want to help alleviate the stress during the IEP process. VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT: HiMWR.com/EFMP or call 655-4ACS.

ACS programs offer a variety of classes and one-on-one support to address many of the day to day stressors of Army living. Programs include the Financial Readiness Program, which offers training and counseling on debt elimination, saving money, investing and financial goal setting; the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), which provides comprehensive and coordinated services to Families with specialized medical or educational needs; and the Army Family Team Building Program, which helps family members understand the Army culture. Perhaps you have a Family Member seeking gainful employment, the Employment Readiness Program can help with your resume, navigating the federal employment process and gaining skills for interviewing and landing your dream job. ACS also provides briefings and trainings for your Family Readiness Group (FRG), returning Soldier, or your Unit that is preparing for Deployment. Our Mobilization and Deployment Program can assist Units and FRGs with scheduling trainings to increase mission readiness and improve volunteer engagement. Whether it is a play morning or a budgeting class, ACS strives to strengthen our military community and build stronger and more resilient Soldiers and Families. Make sure you join your ACS ohana on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 1:30 -3:30 p.m. for our 54th Birthday and Open House celebration (EFMP early bird hour from 12:30 p.m.).
