About Our School
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Estacada Middle School is purposeful to include community leaders in communication routines. EMS presents semester learning outcome data and progress toward school-wide goals via FacebookLive and the District's YouTube channel. Community businesses and partners support EMS by providing access to mental health, counseling, and youth development services. The school intentionally uses local businesses to support school activities and evening functions. Community partnerships sustain EMS’ after-school and Summer school programming.
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
EMS elicits a Parent Satisfaction survey two times each year. The survey cues families to respond to prompts about the District, the school’s culture, students’ learning, and the school’s staff. Based on the results, EMS staff celebrate strengths and determine solutions to overcome weaknesses that families perceive. As a result of the survey, EMS intentionally communicated how well students were learning to families and sent positive messages home to families. A monthly newsletter from the administration is sent to families about all school-related functions. Staff leverage ParentSquare to send families updates on assessments or learning.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Estacada School District in partnership with Todos Juntos, offers a variety of extracurricular activities designed to engage and inspire students. These activities include sports teams, art clubs, music ensembles, and academic competitions. Participation in these programs enhances students' skills and helps them build friendships and develop teamwork.
BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
The Estacada Middle School strongly emphasizes developing school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and reteaching, proactively correcting behavior errors, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment. We have developed schoolwide procedures to teach and achieve the following expectations. Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe and Be Kind. EMS expects student conduct to contribute to a productive learning climate. Students shall comply with EMS's written expectations, submit to the lawful authority of school staff, and conduct themselves in an orderly fashion during the school day and at events.

Estacada came into its own in 1903 with the building of Cazadero Dam, the first hydroelectric power plant on the Clackamas River, followed by Faraday and River Mill dams. Estacada’s post office was established in 1904 and the town became official in 1905.The railroad built to access the dam and the small community of Cazadero, opened up the vast wilderness of Douglas fir and western red cedar to logging, as well as providing transportation for agriculture and passengers. In the early 20th century, a trolley line connected the town with downtown Portland. The railway line has been removed and there is no longer rail service to Estacada.
